Edit: Haven't used these softwares in years.
P2P system is basically LAN in wide internet netwok, this game using P2P system.
The only different with MHW you need authenfication to get connected, even when the heavy connection load only happen on leader quest lobby maker so when that authenfication failed people got disconnected from quest lobby.
LAN system got no problem unless you freaking cut the LAN cable.
Nothing to do with piracy. I used them on Ubisoft games like splinter cell blacklist and Anno whatever number. Blacklist online didn't allow me to play with my friend living 1km away from me because I had steam version and he had uplay version. With Anno their service quality declined to the point connection was not stable so using one of those softwares made it possible to play together.
MHW on the other hand tries to be 100% online and it makes use of Akamai to get info on each player's profile and make checks at the same time, which might be just the thing to prevent something like Hamachi from working.
For a game that got no anti-cheat ssytem and no dedicated server for lobby quest this seem so weirdly retarded.
Yeah I can see that being a problem. I'm sure Capcom comes eventually with a better fix for the online.
One other thing those 2 software can do is able to make you play together with friends is when an old games online server support get's shutdown. Think I played old Red Alert games with my friend because of that years ago.
Yes, MH4U has local and online both.
WHile it has local and online both, its not due to ad hoc or x link kai for sure.
Also I never said MH4U required ad-hoc, but it still uses Nintendo's equivalent of ''wireless local'' play.
