jewels from tempered monsters
currently HR 45 and am confused about how jewel drops work,

Do i need to farm specific monsters for a % chance of a gem i need or can all tempered monsters drop any of them ?
Do the chances of getting a higher level jewel drop go up with HR / Tempered threat level ?
How do i get more higher level tempered investigations as i'm mostly getting HR 13 ones with one or two level 30 ones ?

there are three levels of tempered. each level has their own loot table. I don't have the chart for it anymore.

go on expeditions, collect blue monster tracks and hope they belong to level 3 tempers.

For reference:

Tier 1 monsters : Lower rarity decos
Tier 2 monsters : Mid-High rarity decos
Tier 3 monsters : Warrior/Hero stones for augmenting

is the general rule, but you can ofc get decos from elder dragons too.

As I'm not 100% if you're looking for decorations or streamstones:

For decorations I'd go for Threath level 1. The target doesn't matter as far as I know.
For streamstones TL2/3 are probably better (with TL2 being a lot easier to complete but TL3 probably having a higher chance to reward hero streamstones).

This should help, more or less.
But I don't think that is 100% accurate, because I rarely got some "Hero's Streamstones" from Threat Level 2 Tempered Monsters too (very rarely, but at least not 0% like the chart says)

I got both Protective Polish and Bow Charge Plus in the same Tempered Elder Dragon quest.
If you see a Tempered Elder Dragon investigation, do it.

Essentially high rarity jewels have chances to be unveiled from the gem stones (best one wrap feystones i think?) and only tempered elder dragons have high chance of giving them as rewards which you can grab R6 and R7 jewels (attack jewels being super rare).

You cannot fight tempered elder dragons until you have cleared HR49 tempered kirin so I recommend starting from there. Elder dragon investigations can be easily found by following kirin (lighting strikes twice quest after defeating it in HR49) as kirin will not attack you unless you go first. From there all you need to do is pick up the trails that it leaves and they have chances to grant elder dragon investigations.

Once you have access to tempered elders, you can get r8 gleaming streamstones which you can use at the elder melder to perform first wyverian ritual to sacrifice a streamstone and some useless jewels to 'get' 3 feystones which u can unveil and check. This very likely requires a save/load strategy as the game WILL save after you perform the ritual.

For decorations threat level 2 is still better than level 1 cause some of the better decos like critical boost are not found in the trash bin feystone.
You will always be farming either threat level 2 or threat level 3 cause level 1 is a complete waste of time.
Threat level 3 has the highest chance of giving higher rarity decorations and streamstones.

Edit: The only time you will do threat level 1 is if you want to augment an armor piece that needs a streamstone shard cause shards only drop from level 1.

great info from everyone, thanks.

one last daft question, is there a way to tell threat level of the tempered investigations i have in my list ? is it linked to the HR level and number of purple rewards ?

Easy way to tell the threat level of an investigation is the HR requirement.

Threat levels 1, 2, 3 require HR 13, 30 and 50 respectively.

Cool, thanks again for the help.

I have a threat level picture I can share with you. As far as I can tell its reasonably accurate. Also, you'll want to poke at least a handful of threat 1's for the impact mantle if you're using stun heavy weapons. Give me a moment throw the pic on Imgur or something.

decoration hunt is the worst part of the game imo

i wish they had loottables for every monster and less rng

I forgot to mention, the current event quest, Triple Threat Showdown, drops loads of level 1 and 2 decorations.
Loads of money too with the bandit mantle. Check it out!
