The monsters have many kinds of stun. Long stuns like tremor, concussed, paralysis, sleep and winded (stamina 0) lasts all of 8 seconds and will either require not getting hit or armor skills. Roars and wind last 4 secs. MHW's main problem isn't really the stuns, its instakills from tempered monsters, and hard to dodge combo wombos like Teostras Roar+explosive roar and Kushala's 3 tornadoes during phase 3. The mechanics are janky as hell and do not belong in a polished game like MHW.

sorry..but i have gotten chain stun lock, this is a fact of the game that i have been through and watch others...littling fighting the monster than out of no one one hit into a Stun, with another hit which brings you into another stun, and than they cap you off.

karin for example hits in a stun, heads butts me, i am now doing the VERY VERY slowly doing the stun getting up animation, which is enough time to super charge that one hit kill. sorry...but dont BS me about stun locking combos not being a thing as 80% of my death in this game as come from stun locking combos...the rest being me fing up and getting hit with OHK moves.

edit: note i see any MOVE in the game that removes control from the player as a Stun. no matter what it is.

People actually get stunned in this game? It's more of a punishment in the game more than anything. If you can't dodge you get stunned. It makes people learn.

Are you talking about SOS flares? Not really the same thing. I don't remember, since PC using radial menus with keyboard and mouse is way too hard to deal with so I changed it to the function keys and customized it.

no theres the SoS and the signal. the signal pings the map for other players to see but also calls your palico to come back to you and from there the palico ai usualy makes it kick you out of stun.
I'll try that out next time I'm stunned. Thanks.

Ah. I presumed when you say 'stun' you mean stun.

Your mistake is getting up too early. When you are down, you are invincible - when you're knocked down you cannot be hit. People don't know this, they get knocked on their rear and try to move/spam dodge to get out of it, and are immediately flattened again.

When you're down, stay down unless you know you're going to be safe.

'stun locking combos' can be beaten. You can only get locked if you let the stun build up after a few hits.

Get hit? Don't get hit again.

Get knocked onto the ground? Don't move until there's a window.

If you're consistently pulling off sub five tier two tempered runs you're a pretty cool cat imo.
Getting hit in those is not an option.

the solution is simple...basic game design. you dont let a player get multiplayer stunts one after another.

i rarely die in monster hunter but when i do is normally from Stun locking combos or OHKs. the "Dont get up" only works if you have that options...there are many hits that makes your character play a very long and Sweet animation as you watch your death in coming.

simple design should be

get hin,
punishment is a stun which means a free hit from the monster
and THAT is it.

punishment ends right there no matter what. no long animations, no other stuns, or anything. from there the next hit should be on the player again not some RNG system.

It was fine before but they added a stupid long stun animation you have to go through.

this thread became too long, so I didn't read the bottom half of posts. It's mostly quotes and people saying "git gud" anyway.

So here's your PSA: You can shake stun off by wiggling around and clicking. Takes a couple seconds, but it's far less time than paralysis.

that is pretty much around 20 to 30 secs of not being able to play...

to make it more laughable the monster itself doesnt attack as well in any moment...

so for 30 secs, i cant play, the monster cant move, and at no point we are getting any closer to our objective...which is me trying to kill him and him trying to kill me.

why and who thought that would be fun?

tremor resistance, evasion window, earplugs, stun resistance and knockdown resistance are useful.

If roars give you trouble, Bazel Alpha gives Earplugs 5.
If Kirin combos give you trouble, as I said, bring Nullberries and the Thunderproof Mantle. Stun != Paralysis, stack Para Resistance through gems/charms if you need it. Same goes for generic Stun.
