The palicos are literally gods in this game.
- They can't die, no matter how often the big bad monster hits them
- They can solo kill the big bad monster if you give them the right tools
- They are cute af (I'm afraid mine will get fat bc of all the sausages)

Healing gadget, the active heals where the cat flies to you with a vigorwasp may be horribly timed half the time, but the stationary heal stations are super useful.

Radobaan wep, on 90% of monsters it guarantees at least one extra sleep per fight, and that means a reprieve to sharpen, heal, and sleep bomb.

All that and it's an immortal sidekick that can draw aggro off you.

tl;dr Would still bring cat over most players :^)

The typical player ? So the player that carts to every super nova or roar into b1tch slap into flame breath combo.. every dive bomb.. every trash beam (vaals breath attack).. and winds of new cartings ( kushs wind breath )?

Or lava fishs newb bomb... blos charges... raths roar into fire locks.. anjas roar combo etc?

Really.. Ive seen my palico dish out more and constant dmg than most randos over here at ps4.

My cat can even para 1-2 times. Palico and my kinsect can kill some monsters alone.. which is hella fun to watch a few times at least.

Cats are another player so the Monsters attack them too, acting as a "tank", in that time you can hit the monster for free. Now reading my previous line, are you still thinking that cats are useless?

My Palico has been very useful.

-The vigorwasp has terrible timing, but it's still free heals. Especially the vigorwasp stations it can put down.
-The plunderblade means extra loot for if you're farming.
-The instrument means free buffs without needing a horn user there, even if they aren't as good.
-They still do some damage, even if it isn't a lot.
-It's great for drawing away aggro every now and then so I can heal/antidote/sharpen.

Sure, nothing beats having another player instead of a palico, but they're far from useless.

The cats are a great asset in the fights but you have to consider what their role is. They are basically mild support and distraction. I use the cat to plunderblade stuff and when facing something stronger I give him weapons and armor that play to the monster's weakness.
All this palico talk is useless if you don't take them with you because he can't level up if you don't use him and he really will become useless.
Also, palicos can recruit other animals and cats you run into in the wild. These guys can be a great help too if they got special skills (like trap wiz or the gajalaka knight). An added advantage of this is you increase your level with the grimalkyns by recruiting them, you get them high enough and they will help out your tailraider safaris. That's more free stuff you don't have to grind for.
