What's the most efficient way to complete this main story quest with discovering three Elder Dragon tracks ?

investigations in the location, so if you need tracks in wildspire, just go investigations in wildspires, pick up tracks if you find them, but largely just ignore them and get on with the quest, you'll be rewarded a good amount without even finding tracks.

disagree, investigations work - but that's only if you want the parts.
Go optional quests. I personally missed a bunch of chef kitty's quests, and some (including egg transport) are in wildspire (probably hr too if you finish enough) so, i'd say go for optionals that unlock something/2 birds with one stone.

This mission and the mission where you have to look for pink rathian tracks are actually the worst missions in the game. The mission with the pink rathian at least teaches the player that there are subspecies of monsters but with the elder dragons, it is literally there to pad the game. You wander endlessly in 3 different areas looking for tracks of 3 different monsters that can take well over and hour for each monster

Is it really that bad? You have freedom to do whatever you want while gathering tracks.

You don't have to just gather tracks just do high rank quests in those areas to also get progress towards the research bar.
