Does the online part of the game use P2P or something?
I'm asking because it's pretty bad and that could explain it

Yes, The HUB has a host connection, and on top of that you also have a connection to whoever your are running your mission through.

Which maybe part of some of the issues now that I think about it, because when you go on a mission you are still connect to the hub someone started hosting and are also connected to the player that's hosting the quest you are on.

Its P2SP. Your game is connecting to the Steam server as well as to peers.

Currently, its the P2S portion that's thought to be the cause of the bulk of connectivity issues. Something about the game is making the Steam service trip over itself, its why people report seeing their friendlist spam "So-and-so has just started playing MHW" every few minutes.

When the game loses its connection to the server for whatever reason, it will immediately boot you out of multiplayer, even if your connection to your peers is fine.

Thanks for the heads up. I figure it was something like that last bit you said because normally P2P games don't count for the fact if someone loses connection for a split sec. Like they made the game for a LAN party and nothing else.

As someone who actually has a background in Cisco networks, I can tell you nothing has a 100% up time.

Anyways, it sounds like the problem is on Steam's end and not even the game. Where steam needs to make it where the servers don't time someone out so quickly (Maybe is a setting on the game admin side which would make it the game devs problem)

We have a proper thread discussing it over here if you would like to follow or talk about it.

Right now I could see the networks timeout possibly being set to low and causing the entire player hub to drop. I have a more detailed post about it towards the end of the thread and some text from the games p2p logs.
