How do I farm Anjanath?
I went on an expedition with intent to kill Anjanath to gather some mats, but it just flees the map entirely. Why? And bounties aren't offering any optionals for Anjanath hunt. How should I go about this?

expedition = monster will leave if you don't kill it within a certain time frame. Go investigation via SOS or if you have it, easy money as well

+1 Expedition are pretty much just for raw materials like iron and herb, not monster hunts because you dont even get a bouns for it like investigations

Same as the other two, Investigations are the #1 form of farming, and not only but instead of killing the Anja outright, it is actually better to capture the animal, since you will have even more material rewards at the end.

Also, pick up it's tracks, since that will also produce more Investigations, and although random, they can and will eventually give you Anja Investigations as well.

Good Luck.

Collect footprints in expedition until the game says investigation added. Then do investigation instead.

Dumb question. Did you beat them as part of a proper mission yet? I've once read you can't get investigations (which are in the bounty list you are reffering to) for large monsters until you've had an official stamp on beating them.

Basically, you just keep praying and messing with Anja tracks and taking stabs at them when you see him until you get an expedition with him involved.

For example. When I killed Rathalos twice just because I could in expeditions right around when I killed Radobaan in the story (but no main/optional missions asking me to yet), I had no Rathalos investigations to show for it.

While at that point "Beat them in an optional mission" Rathian I got investigations in short order just by ignoring them by picking up tracks in passing.

Ivy + spider web = net
net + trap tools = pit trap

You can find spider webs in caves and ivy north side of the map on the 2nd and 3rd levels

Take a pit trap 2 nets and 2 trap tools with you and make 2 more traps when out on the quest ezy

Waiting until you hit wildspire wastes so you can more easily make shock traps is much more newbie friendly though.

One easily found nearly everywhere bug + trap, is a lot less fuss than "Why are vines so hard to find in a jungle covered in vines!?" + spider webs.

Also you start getting capture kits for free in missions soon enough. which makes stocking up on shock traps even easier (and using the garden to grow vines/spider webs is a painful waste when you are starting out).

sadly pitfall really got nerfed badly with all the new terrain limitations, shock is way easier to make as well

Well as the OP said, they don't have any investigations for it yet.

So while good general advice, you come off more as kneejerk "first to copy/paste" because their entire problem is they WANT to use an investigation, are well aware of them, but don't have any yet.

OP said he has no "bounties for optional hunts", he never mentioned investigations. Telling him what investigations are and how to obtain them was the best advice possible.

My Sassing pit trap two seconds ago aside. It's great to have the OPTION for pit traps. Because traps lose their punch the more it gets used on a monster.

So if you failed to capture them two times, or god forbid three times with a shock trap? Switching over to a pit trap for your last swing at them will make it much more likley to give you leeway for tranqs.

It says bounties right there on the top of the menu you access investigations from though.

If you wanna help the new guys, you gotta remember what being a new guy is like.

Not get pissy that they read "bounties" at the top of a menu so refer to it as bounties.

You can tranq first and then trap, no need to worry about trap resist then.

Who got pissy? OP asked for the best way to farm Anjanath, people told him the best way to farm Anjanath, nobody made a single remark, let alone a "pissy" remark, about he saying "bounties".

Picking up tracks and messing about on expidition will give you investigations. In town at the bounty board go to investigations and check mark the anja ones that look good. Then go to the mission board and profit! Investigations are THE way to farm monster parts as you get the carve and bonus items from the bronze/silver or gold boxes on the invest mission.
