*random gymnastics around a monster like an annoying fly*
"My work here is done"
*Palico blinks*
"But you didn't do anything!"
I hate this kind of response. From what I've seen, anyone who is good with any weapon can contribute to a fight
Rath Glaive for Fire, Kushala Daora Glaive for Ice, Kadachi Glaive for Thunder, Bone tree for paralysis in a team setting if going for more monster control support, Xeno glaive for dragon if you have handicraft set, Nergi Glaive for all around use until you create a build you like -Nergi is also great for general use against elder dragons because of its high elder seal. There's only one water glaive tree, so that's a given, and finally the Vaal Hazak tree for the highest potential raw damage. You will definately need handicraft maxed for this weapon so that you can achieve maximum white sharpness values.
Any of the glaives work with the right build, but those are my go-to choices for monsters.
Of course that comment is also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ if the glaive user is constantly mounting the monster and rendering it harmless in multi so the others can issue relentless beatdowns.
Most new players to the series only see the glaive as an acrobatic weapon. The glaive is powerful in that it is super mobile while on the ground, the weapon animations are quick, it's got great severing power for monster parts, the addition of the extra aerial maneuvers allows you to avoid damage if you are unable to sheate your weapon in time, you can mount monsters far easier in a fight than other weapon users for easy damage once the monster is knocked down.
The glaive is most certainly not an acrobatic weapon as most memers suggest. It is very powerful in the right hands, but if you're using it solely for air maneuvers, then you're doing it wrong.
