DB will be closest to your bow playstyle, with fast attack bursts and dodging around in the thick of combat. Edit: And, stamina management (ironically requires marathon runner instead of constitution...).
LS is very similar to DB with the combo chain mobility, but is slightly more technical with fade slash and charge meter. I think the only thing wrong with LS is that the best one is gated behind arena tokens (at least til dlc updates).
GS is amazing. In the current version of the game it is better than it ever has been before. Shoulder charge and super ultra whatever it's called is great. That said, it is the most far removed from your bow playstyle. If you go with greatsword, I just urge you to understand that draw attacks, sheathing, and uncharged attacks really make the GS unload a ton of dps that many players are missing by only trying to pop the biggest numbers.
Greatsword is satisfying, seeing those 1000 critical hits every so often when the perfect circumstances align, plus it's probably the best weapon to use Critical Draw with. It's slow, and ponderous in solo, but with the weaker enemies in solo it's great to just smack monsters around with it.
I don't like Dual Blades, they just feel wrong. It looks cool as hell to run around in demon mode with them, like some vampire lord, but the rigidness of the attacks makes me not enjoy them very much. The one set with the huge amount of white sharpness with a build that buffs out sharpness and reduces its loss is undeniably powerful though.
I'm gonna go with the GS any tips in what kinda of skills i should aim for or which sword?
Malady's kiss is fairly easy to get, and paralysis nets you a free attack, sometimes two-3 (i mean paralysis moments). and a random swing can knock out those little bastards from hitting you when you're in say, great girros. I used that up till my current weapon.
Going for the leviathan/hazak ♥♥♥. Gem, dragon, elderseal, damage..and a sword, not an axe.
You could also go for the wyvern jawblade (i think..or great wyvern blade) something like that, anyway, the bone blade with blast. Blast is good/helpful for randomly destroying parts..not the greatest, but can help farming, especially speedy monsters.
I had rath helm (lr) paolumu chest B hornetaur greaves, girros pants, and heavy metal ingots till i got my current gear, more then enough and carried me to nerigigante.
That said, after neri - death stench parts, attack boost/draw boost (something for boosting draw attacks, like punishing draw, using a blanket term). Weakness exploit (very worthwhile). I'd say divine blessing just because it kicks in randomly, and saved my bacon a few times..not necessary...
what else did i find...earplugs is always helpful, handicraft saves time ..and helps a lot.
All in all go with what you like, if you're good at dodging, and landing shots, go full sniper, and damage..otherwise i'd say some spots for keeping yourself alive, like fortify (amazing..if you die), one gem to add in.
It's versatile, you can hit nearly everything, and break everything. Totally worth it. Weapons are too much of palette swaps tho, and not as many cool ones as previous games..
Good luck ..hope this helps.
thank you for the help. really appreciate it.. time for trying a different weapon after i dont know how many 100 hours with a bow total (ps4) :P
