How do I find Kirin?

I find evidence of him in the coral highgrounds but the research meter doesnt go up

That is for the special HR 49 Tempered Kirin.

LR Kirin is unlocked by doing the capture quest line for the Researcher next to the place the captured animals get put, in town.

HR Kirin is unlocked by doing a ton of optionals. Just keep doing them until it shows up.

Tempered Kirin is unlocked by farming those kirin tracks you're finding, but not until you're HR 49.

Pretty sure he's talking about LR kirin. The meter didn't fill up for me either. PS4 users say it's a bug. Just kept collecting them and eventually the Investigator guy at the main base had the quest for me.

There's no tracking involved for LR Kirin. They give you the quest after you capture a Kulu, a Paoloma, a <something I don't remember>, and an Odogaron as optional quests for the researcher.

Ah you're right, I'm remembering incorrectly. The HR was the track collection.

That's not for Tempered Kirin. That's actually for the regular HR Kirin. Keep finding the signs, they're always in the same place. The meter doesn't visibly fill up, but around 150-200 points worth, you'll get a marker over the Impatient Biologist and talking to them will get you the quest.

Tempered Kirin doesn't have a glitched meter.
