Throwing Knives?

Why aren't they purchasable from the shops or craftable?

yeah I was mad about this on the ps4. because throwing knives were given to you as a starting item in BETA i thought they were common.

they are not common at all.

You get them sometimes from quests/investigations and from killing a certain small monster later in the game. I can't recall if they EVER sold knives at the provisonist. If they do its well after you have beaten the game.

Its because of how powerful they are.
Guaranteed on demand paralysis/sleep as non HBG/LBG user is pretty damn strong option.

I could've sworn they were purchasable on the PS4 by the Provisions Manager in Astera.. now they're once in a blue moon give in the item box at the start of specific missions where they're seen as viable?

Well they were always once in a blue from the item box.

What I can't say definitively is if they were ever in the provisions store. If they were, I can safely say it was pretty late game because I actively looked for them for the first 100 or so hours when I played on the ps4.
