Fresh ingredient?

What exactly are fresh ingredients? How to get them? I see that sometimes I have them

As far as I know, fresh ingredients rotate in and out, so depending on what ingredients you've acquired in the game you'll get extra bonuses to health/stamina/buffs etc.

I recommend you do optional quests, especially the ones that the palico chef tells you to do, it gives you more ingredients and raises your chance to always have a fresh ingredient when you eat.

some ingredients can randomly become fresh, you just have to unlock more ingredient for a bigger chance and at some point you will always have fresh ingredient for that sweet 50/50 hp/sta bonus.

So I don't need to farm these ingredients? I was like killing random stuff on expedition thinking that fresh ingredients would be something like recently collected lol
