item drops from monsters, low rank and high rank?
I was on the fextralife MHW wiki and looking up drop chance for monster fluid. It had two tables for the monsters, a table detailing possible drops and chances for low rank versions, and a table detailing drops and their chances for high rank versions.

How do i find and know that I'm fighting a high rank version? Are high ranks exclusive to starting the 'high rank' part of the game after "Zora Magadros - A colossal task"?

Also, are the tables exclusive to each other or does a high rank monster possibly drop items from its own table plus the items from the low rank table?

For instance the vespoid drops monster fluid on low rank and monster broth on high rank. If I end up needing fluid instead of broth, do the high rank vespoids also possibly drop fluid like their low rank counterparts, or do i need to hunt the low ranks?

You're in High Rank if you select a quest 6* or above, or if you start an expedition with High Rank selected on the map

I don't think anything drops fluid in High Rank, but I could be wrong. It's best to just go to Low Rank and farm for em

Low rank is 1-5*, High rank is 6-8*. Shortly after unlocking high rank, you also unlock high rank expiditions, you can see which expedition you are selecting at the top left of the map screen (it always defaults to high rank so you have to manually switch each time if you want low rank).

The drop tables are totally seperate but some enemies have some low rank items in their high rank drop pool. Basically its a case by case basis.

When you say 1-5 and 6-8 you're talking about the stars next to quests that are listed right? How exactly does HR correspond to star levels of quests? HR max is 100 i think, but quests only go up to 8 stars?

The highest HR is 999. As your HR gets higher, you get access to higher star quests. I wouldn't worry about the stars very much. All you need to know is that blue coloured quests denote low rank monsters and the other is for high rank. Eventually you'll get access to investigations with higher HR locks (ie you need a HR of x or above) to accept. By then just make sure to read the quest details before attempting them.
