SnS's shield compared to lance's shield
Hello!

The shield of sword and shield is for sure weaker compared to the lance's shield. But what does it means?

Only that blocking will eat a chunk more of stamina and do a higher chip damage? Or there are also some attacks that only the lance's shield can block?

Thanks!

Stamina consuption, but keep in mind if you lose all stamina you take full damage, I'm sure you also stagger more from blocking with a SnS shield.

The Lance's shield is heavy and doesn't knock you back if you have the right skills, it can even guard against the unblockable attacks such as lasers

Indeed, forgot knockback!

So it comes only to stamina, chip damage and knockback? If so the shield is not useless to block an attack here and there. :)

It's never been useless to block an attack here and there. I got to HR50 solely on SnS on PS4 version without using a single other weapon. It's great.

Already answered, however Little Pixel mentioned unblockable attack.
It's wrong. Like SnS shield, unblockable attacks can only be blocked with the help of the "Guard Up" skill obtained through the "Shield" lvl 2 jewel or Uragaan armor set bonus.

Most people always seem to push for using lance/GL if you want to actually block a lot of attacks, but SnS works fine for this purpose if you gear up for it. You'll be taking a bit more chip damage, longer block recovery, and knocked back more, but it still works. The speed of SnS along with the quick access to items more than makes up for these drawbacks if you're tanking.

That being said, to have a good reliable shield for repeat blocks you must have "Guard" lvl 5. Lance can get away with Guard lvl 3, SnS not so much. And of course "Guard Up" is needed if you want to eat giant attacks.
