What's a good insect glaive build for late game that has high dps?

Then what is considered a decent kinsect?

Grandcathar III is the best healing kinsect, Pseudocath III is the best offensive kinsect.

The best all around insect glaives are Catastrophe's Light and Diablos, and for elemental you want to use Kirin for thunder, Rathalos for Fire, Kushala for ice, Jyura for water, Catastrophe's Light for dragon, and Dodogama for blast.

It depends on what you are fighting. End game Monster Hunter is building a variety of weapons and armor sets to take on various challenges. Don't worry about the individual weapon's dps that much. High damage comes from knowing the fights and hitting the weak points when you get the chance.

What about decent armor? For like just straight dps

For armor you're then most likely looking for skills that buff attack power, elemental damage, increases affinity (crits), handicraft for increased sharpness. Chances are you'll only be able to focus on a couple of skill to really buff out completely.

With insect glaive, do not underestimate your kinsect. Definitely do your best to raise all of them to give yourself options. Their powders are great at giving various blights to monsters, and you can change their elements easy enough with some materials. I've also had several instances of the kinsect breaking parts, severing tails, and even just straight killing monsters.

I personally view insect glaive as more of a monster harassar with its purpose being to cause status effects to the monsters and mounting it with ease not so much just raw dps

That being said late game multiplayer everytime i mount a monster someone instantly flashes the monster so im sitting here like "dude this monster has been flying for the past 5 mins and u didnt flash it once till i mounted it"

end game cookie cutter is always attack boost, crit and other yadayada. Nothing unique nothing special. Just google or go watch some videos on youtube.

Most important is to get a maximum speed kinsect, most dps comes from keeping all 3 buffs up.

^ ya I think this. stack some weakness exploit, and critical boost/critical eye if you can.

So if I were to go for a poison build I would just mostly build something for that element?

At least as many as you can fit in. With blights like poison, paralysis, bleed, sleep, blast, the monster eventually builds up a tolerance to it and eventually it won't work as well. Elements are thunder, water, fire, dragon, and ice. Taking advantage of those is crucial late game.
