You can go and fight a Great Jagras, knock it over and then pummel it to death and all you hear is constant tinkles as more and more golden goodness drops out of him, then go and fight some other high health thing in a vulnerable position, whacking away at its face and doing near similar damage, and only see a few golden goodies drop.
I dunno it just seems to have a greater effect on the weaker monsters with smaller health pools, to me.
I pretty much only use it for arena missions where monsters can't really move around or run away so you get maximum value out of your time, anyway.
I prefer using the Argosy set to Trade-In items for money making, but you can't beat a coordinated team fighting something like a Kushala Daora all wearing Bandit Mantles and keeping it grounded with flash pods while they whale away at its weak points, spewing out high tier goodies like a fountain, but with a team like that, you probably don't need money anyway.
