What does water element damage do to monsters?
I know it's strong against fire monsters, but what is the effect on all monsters? I notice water gets attached to monsters after hitting them for a while but what exactly is it doing?

Elemental damage really only does extra damage if the monster is weak against it. Only notable exceptions from what I've played is the Barroth and the fish monster-thing, water damage removes the mud from them.
On weapons its just an elemental damage type. Some are weak to it, others strong, some are neither. The waterpods on the otherhand are far more useful, you can use it to clean mud off monsters so you can damage them again, or you can fire it into a fire monster's mouth to put it out for a short while.

From what I've read, it tires a monster out sooner, so they attack less often or something.

Makes the monsters happy cause none of them are good at bathing themselves and none of them want to be stinky-so they’re more likely to stop fighting you and become your pal instead. 🤣😸

Thank you.

Water is the most useless elemental dmg in the game. Just throwing that out there.

That's exhaust element.

Right, which is what water causes.

Am I wrong? The wiki and YouTube only explain so much.
It's just a added effect i'm pretty sure.

Depends on what you are talking about when it comes to elements. If you mean Blights, that is what monsters cause when they damage you with abilities. They breathe fire, you get Fireblight, they shoot mud, you get Waterblight.

Assuming from the title of the thread I assume we are talking about Player element damage. Which any main element: Water, Fire, Thunder, Ice, and Dragon will only do increased damage to a monster that is weak to that element. It doesn't cause Blight.

Abnormal Status effects on weapons like Blast, Paralysis, Exhaust, Sleep, Poison, and Stun do cause Blight on monsters. Depends if they are immune, or if they are resistant. Resistant means it takes longer for the hidden status bar to fill up and cause the blight to affect the monster.

Nothing but added damage if the monster is weak to it. Some things like barroth's mud can be removed if you use a water element weapon.

All elements are of the same importance. You're just baiting/trolling.
