As a HBG main since Freedom Unite I find this is both true and offensive at the same time!
Best in Show is best in show after all and while all the LS mains are running their Crit/Attack Helmsplitter Anime Build why must we HBG mains be discriminated against!?

8 minutes is trash times for any solo.

"Lance seems like a worse gunlance and gunlance seems like a worse longsword" was a joke.

I can easily solo a Tempered Vaal Hazak in 5:30 with a evasion lance build, and tempered nergigante in 5:45

Anything under 8 minutes includes all monsters, well, except Zorah. Nergigante and Vaal Hazak should be sub 5 with this build.

Jagras Hacker 3 far outclasses it, same with wyvern ignition (extremely easy to make when event is around)

https://i.imgur.com/GxrVlJU.png easily the best solo build.

Just run around buffing your cat and avoiding whatever you're fighting, effortless solo sub-20 minute tempered elders

Only other req than these common af jewels is the gajalaka bomb and any tailraider on the map you go on.

Open the fight with 2 mega barrel bombs, keep your cat hp over 50%, and use your gadget abilities, other than that, you have to do nothing.

Yeah but you can do it in 5-10 mins tops with HBG and it's more fun than just buffing the cat.

Every weapon is viable for solo as long as you know how to use it. Just pick one you are most proficient with or have fun with.

Mine is longsword..lol

You can use flash pods for flying monsters and sonic pods for the underground monsters.

Apart from longsword, I suppose Lance is pretty good for solo weapon too but more of a defensive perspective.

Literally can't die with Lance decoed with Guard Up, except when you sheathe it or lower down your shield at the wrong time but the latter can be solved mostly with Divine Blessing and Vitality.

Greatsword is pretty solid for solo too. It feels like a slower but more damaging longsword to me and comes with a "shield".

Insect Glaive is good too. It feels like a longsword with the mobility on steroids to me.

Switchaxe is pretty decent too for solo. Feels like a longsword mixed with a Greatsword but with less mobility which can be fixed with Evade Extender lvl 2.

I suppose Bow is great too but it's more successful in the hands of my friend so I can't say the same for me.

Another weapon I have tried so far and had no success solo is Hunting Horn..lol..but I am sure there are Hunting Horn users who solo content with it.

long sword is really fun but its jusst not practical. yeah it has a long reach and wide attack range but its attack speed is so slow, which means that youll constantly be struggling to get the last hit with spirit blade and your overall damage is going to suffer, unless you get really good at foresight slash and even then you still need to land your counter after which is still really hard against fast moving bosses like the tobi-kadachi.
a way better melee weapon are the dual blades imo. i tried them and it was muchmore effective in fights. i was able to stick to any bosses and evade out of most attacks. i ended up cutting off every tail that a boss had right away and knocking them down constantly as well. id say dual blades are the easiest and most powerfal melee weapons in the game.

You must haven't used with longsword to say that, the weapon is fast with good mobility, can evade fast on mid combo and also have counter, with long reach, plus spirit attacks can ingore bounce, you can also chain spirit slash from aerial spirit attack too

If you had to mention fast monster, at least give the odogaron as example, I use longsword all the time and tobi is nothing to be call hard at all, every time I fight him with LS he never have a single chance to land an attack, if he had I just counter it since it attack are kinda slow and easy to read, same goes for odo but a bit faster but still same, even for slower weapon like greatsword, poor thing odo got devastated, hard
Even for flyers too, especially azure rathalos (tempered or non-tempered), never have trouble with him while using LS, or GS, but I have while using dual blade because of it short reach

And the spirit lv is super easy to build, miss it? Do it again since spirit gauge fill almost immediately with few attack

You simply are not used to other weapons so you can't optimized the weapon's movement, that why people say all weapon are powerful because it mostly depend on player skill to draw out it potential
