i hate the hammer
Honestly I won't call you dumb, but you definitely look like you don't want to learn. And those two weapons are seen are simple to use and deal damage with. Since you say you want range, I would advise long sword rather than dual blades. Not sure why you would choose hunting horn out of all weapons if you're just looking to deal damage only.
I want an impact type weapon with range. The hunting horn is the only option. And I am absolutely willing to learn. I'll play the notes if I have to. I just don't like doing charges.
Hunting horn songs are not that complicated go wail on a low level jaggi to practice. Then pick up a mansheena (xeno horn) and laugh all the way to Def up XL and Atk Up L with stam regen. or if you're lazy get one of the horns with earplugs and just laugh at roars.
HH is fun i did kushala easily by myself it also negates all the effects monsters through at you. Just takes a bit of practice to learn. And i've done my second playthrough with predominately horn. You also get face smashing dmg better then the hammer with less wind up time.
Also if your SOS hunters are not potatos they'll wait for you to doot your flute for buffs.
Honestly i love playing double horn with randoms in SOS we just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ murder everything.
You can defintly play hunting horn without spamming songs, obviously once you get more comfortable with the weapon you will be throwing in notes by memory.
Try something like this build, its very beginner friendly. Good health regen, defense and damage. Works just as well in groups. Some of the jewels can be a bit hard to get, but you can just adjust accordingly. Very fun to play and super tanky.

Horn Maestro
Just buff yourself (and team) before the battle begin, then stack some fodder song (like self improve). During the right moment, just do the song for dmg, then cancel it by dodging. This way you can do some damage. If you somehow get the chance for song, do it for some good buff for you (and teammate). If you monsters are not aggresive be sure to steal some encores for higher-end damage. Just do not be that one HH user that play song somewhere while the monster is in another side of the world, since HH is no bard.
I just wanted to know.
I'll play the songs then
Nice. I'll get right to it. I'm using the nergigante horn
you have to be a casual to call HH horrible.
