The quest leader has cancelled SOS flare.
Joined 3 games by SOS this evening. Two guys cancelled. One at the beginning, but right after I wasted a meal and mega nutrients. One did good by me and other join-in. Last waited till very last moment, when target was almost dead, and cancelled, booting me and two other guys from spoils. I did join on a fresh quest every time (rewards: on).

Is that a way of trolling? A poor netcode? A rotten luck on my part?

That sounds more like the host disconnects?
I'm pretty sure that I never got kicked when a host canceled the SOS.
I might be wrong though...

How are you sure it booted the other guys?

Also if it's near dead couldn't you finish it off alone?

Lastly cancelling sos does not kick anyone.

When you get kicked from a quest - it doesn't kick you back into the city or whatever. It creates a solo instance for you to continue. That means if something was almost dead, you'd likely notice a little freeze up, your group disappearing and your Palico joining you. You can still get loot.

When the leader cancels the SOS flare, nothing happens. Canceling the SOS flare means no one can join anymore - it doesn't affect the people IN the quest at all.

So it sounds like you encountered some bug.

Also Mega Nutriens are bad'ish cause they only grant +20 health, go the extra mile and go for Max Potion for the +50.

Thanks for explanation guys. I was joining the online game, where host fired SOS. The message that "quest leader has canceled SOS" has been given to me as an explanation to big red "QUEST FAILED" sitting at the center of the screen. After that I got loot window, first time it was empty as I didn't even get to the target, second time I had some thingies, because I broke some parts of the target (3 in total, one for each part), but nothing else.

And thanks for the tip about Max potion, Melody!

Given that it took you to the loot window, in both instances the quest was actually failed (probably due to faints). When the quest ends, the game pops the "quest leader has canceled the SOS" mesage.

Host has cancelled SoS also appear when the quest reaches max members, a host cancelling SoS doesn't kick anyone, getting kicked or disconnected doesn't end the quest either it keeps an instance for yourself you can still finish solo.

The quest failed is only triggered by reaching the cart limit or like many players for not reading that it is a capture quest and slaying the monster.

Also a lot of quest recently are 1 deaths/cart. If some is killed even once, game over. Technically not killed but carted, well you get the gist. well some players dont get what carted means.

Happened a lot of times someone already got killed/carted before I even left the camp and it was game over.
You have to look at a quest and see how many lives it gives. 1/1 or 2/2 or 3/3.
Those 1 life quest are tricky specially against tempered monsters who can 1 hit players easily.

Heya, guys, thanks for all the feedback!

I searched for specific storyline quest, with a task to hunt down the target, so no, no fails due to not capturing the beast.

I googled a bit more, and yeah, seems like when quest fails due to exceeding faint limit it fails like that (somehow explains itself that QL cancelled SOS). Which is kinda a bit absurd, but oh well.
