in general. always keep reserves of the basics for potions, traps, tranqs and buffs.

Basically. That being said, Honey seems to be consistantly on my cultivate list. Mostly because honey hunter is no where near as efficent as botany 4 for how quickly you can pile up stuff. That combined with how many things use honey means that I've basically had 1 slot doing that full time from the start.

Bitterbugs also get used in damn near everything, along with blue mushrooms. But both of those I can Botany 4 to collect piles of them.

I've ended up doing baitbugs some of the time honestly, because Sushifish and Whetfish can't be cultivated. Being able to one bite heal/stop bleed and 2 cycle sharpen regularly is very nice. I know I can suck them up with fake fodder, but it's quicker to throw baitbugs at them. (Fething Pink Perexus ought to be named 'Bait Waster' instead I swear.)

In general, you use it for what you need. Mandigora and Devil's Blight are also solid picks, since there are so few harvestable nodes out there. Heck I've done Ivy of all things (I like smokebombs okay!?) a couple of times. Just keep it going and stock up on stuff you'll use eventually is my advice.

To be honest once you start harvesting for a while you'll end up having so much of every material it's not even funny. Unless you're playing with bowguns I suppose.

Proper use of the ancient tree has you covered for harvestables. I'm sitting on like ~2.2k honey, for example

random tips
if you use demondrug,armorskin or max potion
Get Mushroomancer level 3
at the start of the quest,just eat Nitroshroom,Parashroom and Mandragora
Then,go back to camp and just swap back to your original build

that way,you dont have to combine demondrug,armorskin and max potion,which save resources and not needing to cultivate items like bitterbug or etc etc
