Ok I just got the gold ticket but I don't see the nergigante gem as an option

Farm High Rank (non-tempered) Nergigante Investigations with [Silver] [Silver] [Gold] or more. Now the trick is finding those kinds of investigations, especially when we're so used to farming tempered ones instead of regulars... 😉

You need to progress further in the story to unlock Nergigante gem as an option in melding.

It is superstition at this point but you SHOULD supress the desire to get a gem and, if you're into more superstition, pet poogie for extra 1% drop rate... xD

Bring Punderblade for your pallico and Gilly mantle, your Pallico's steal draws from the same loot table as capture/carve, you can do this while you also farm his footprints/throrns for 4-5 reward (2 gold/silver+) investigations.
An extra thing you can do to be as efficient as possible.

No upgrading. More like crafting, with item cost instead of gold. For example, 1 gold wyverian print is the cost to craft a monster gem.
And you GET those from the limited weekly bounty. Check your bounty list, then right bumper or trigger (I forget which) lets you toggle over to the limited tab.\ so you can see what you need to do. Finish all three, and done for the week.

Nerg gem is 1 Gold Wyverian ticket. 1 ticket is 100 points and 100 points is one gem. It cost 300 research points. If it hasn't been said.

The following can also help:

1: Make a build with 2 pieces of Legiana favor for good luck.
2: Use Food voucher for luck cat food skill.
3: Pet Poogie for reasons or not.

I haven't used this on an elder. So I can't say if works or not. I use this and capture master for other gems with capturable monsters

Petting poogie doesn't do anything XD ... only thing poogie can do is give costumes and iems in astera ! LOL BRO you're so funny ... Hilarious !
