pierce up was 10% if i remember right though i have no idea if its additive or multiplicative.
you generally should strive to put in both, i even have ready dragonpiercer build if you want.
Seems a little stupid that a tier 3 gem is the same increase as a lower tier, though.
Pierce, the tier 3, increases dragon piercer and piercing ammo.
Special ammo, the tier 1, is for dragon piercer and bowgun special ammos.
It still seems stupid that both the tier 3 and tier 1 have the same increase.
After all, some bowguns do pierce much better than others.
Looked up what ammo is specifically powered up by the tier 1 gem, and it's the hard hitting wyvern type attacks. The B button ammo. That makes even LESS sense now to have the tier 1 gem be set up that way. Especially since that makes it better for the broad variety of bowguns over only piercing ammo which not all bowguns can use.
