Why is deviljho so weak?

I'm not talking about easy or movesets or anything like that. I'm talking about his damage. It's so low. Why does he do like 15-30 damage a hit? Kinda dissapointed. Tempered is only event right?

I wonder if Deviljho's pin and follow up will be an instant cart from his Tempered form. It was a bit distressed how his long drawn out dragonbreath attack only did like 1/5th of my HP from a solid hit though.

At least he's aggressive enough that fighting him solo is a daunting prospect, though.

Tempered can one shot with the followup after his pin, yup. And his attack deal much more damage. Tempered Black diablos level of damage, I'd say.

Considering every other pin attack is not an instant cart.. XD

Wut? Deviljho has only a tempered version and a normal version, wih the tempered one being an event. Archtempered so far are exclusive to Elder Dragons.

Eh, it still doesn't take all that long to kill multiplayer scaled monsters but thats not the point. The point is I was told we have some difficult new monsters to look forward to which gives me a reason to keep crafting new stuff and getting better as a player and I get baited with jho just being a normal random monster. It seems only the tempered version is hard at all. Seems possible they will sneak it into the next event line up even though it isn't on the site so thats hopeful.

Give me something to measure my progress against.

Still a new monster, which is always welcome.
New gear to grind, end game, and try out.
I think you are looking for Lunastra and Behemoth :) those are challenges.
One could always make artificial challenges, like no pots, palico or armour, or speedruns :)

But it is always a balance between people who rush and people who barely have the time.
I think ex behemoth will be a welcome addition even though I know I won’t be able to handle him (will still try though!).

Because he's not an elder dragon simple also I think he's kinda there to help people who still haven't done the final guy. Good weapons and a dragon mantle could help for that.

After all that hype the terrorpickle got in videos on YouTube, I found the fight tough but manageable. Gunlance is a breeze, longsword requires more rolling and my combos are shorter. Otherwise pretty decent. He seems to be more aggressive and fights more when you flash him. When he gets tired from rampaging, you have a huge window of opportunity to land hits.

Third kill by now. Maybe I should use pre endgame gear for a challenge

Well deviljho isnt designed to kill you, its designed to annoy you.
Thats the only way i can explain broken hitboxes, chasing attacks, tremors and pin attack which you cant get out by flashing.
Then theres pitfall attacking, high movement speed while limping and constnatly moving legs so youll have harder time getting hits with only small jaw and chest he only points at you when he attacks being weakpoints.
Finally you have weapons requiring his specific gem and tailfangs which somehow drop from breaking the jaw, but hey you dont have any investigations.
Oh and nearly forgot, he falls down the other way so youll hitting armored back...

Everything about this monster tells me im being trolled.

Temp jho will give a more interesting fight. Probably see more randoms gotten cart. Normal jho is just an introduction to his mechanic. The same for Behemoth, u will want a normal Behemoth to understand the mechanic before they drop extreme. Anyway they r already releasing things faster on PC. 1/2 days rhey will release an event, 'flash in the pan' where u can get real cool head gear with good skill and decoration slots.
Look out for event quest, 'relish the moment', that's temp jho when it releases.

Fully buffed up, I have around 550 defense... Deviljho dropped that down to 400, ill tell ya what... he hurt after that ♥♥♥♥.

Its because his saliva causes defense down. Either counter with decorations or use an adament seed
