How to find Deviljho?

I've followed guides online, I've gone to random missions, I've gone to investigation for Elder's Recess and looked all over the top and areas 5 and 6 for tracks. Nothing. I'm on the deviljho patch and get a notification in town that I can go out looking for it.

When you see a ??? monster on the expedition. ALso its the 6th UTC time so hes out now

bounce between expeditions but when you look at the world map lkook for a destination with a ??? monster. go there, pick up tracks, encounter the Jho then go back to astera to get the special investigation quest

Edit: now there's TWO, I tried three sets of investigations and didn't see anything like that.

this seem like a pre/Prep patch. To get ready for a bigger one
May have unlocked a bit of the stuff but not everything.
Its very common in Online Games

Yeah, go on expeditions with ???, find a tracks or meet the jho (fight if you want), go back to astera, speak to the npc with blue exclamation mark on map, go back on expedition with ???, gather tracks again (and fight jho, if you want), go back to astera again, unlock special assignment.

Its out. I found his footprints around area 5 and 6 of elder recess then it lead me to the lava area where he was.

I don't see him in any mission, how can i find him?

He's not in a mission. He's in expedition. You need to find him just like you did every other monster you first encountered. And if you didn't find him then he's not on that map. He doesn't ALWAYS show up. Same for Tobi-Kadachi that isn;t ALWAYS in the forest either. Just try again and again until he is there. Then you can pick up his tracks to unlock further investigations so you can hunt him more.

Its almost as if tracking/finding him works the exact same way as every other monster you've done thusfar. Who would've thunk huh...

You dont find Deviljho, Deviljho finds you.

1. Open world map
2. Inspect every area
3. If there is an unknow monster go there

it was pretty much random
guide won't do any good for you
my tips is
open world map and look every location
and see the monster list if there is '' ??? '' monster it should be deviljhoe
if you didn't find any on any location just go to random location and open world map again and search '' ??? '' on the monster list on each location
