Majority will say affinity and thats fine.

I however dont like playing without health regen.

i tend to go for my priority list
1 healing
2 affinity
3 attack when possible

i make an exception on healing for bows and i skip affinity for explosive based weapons like charge blade, ammo based gunlance builds or weapons with positive affintiy already

Health regen. Divine slasher can achieve 100% crit with weakness exploit and affinity booster for most of the fight. Health regen makes things safer, and if you get the means to, you can run peak performance with it.

When there's only one augment (rank 8) and you want max DEEPS you can pick either attack or affinity. They give more or less the same result. If you are already using decos that give you high or 100% affinity then you probably should pick attack. If you want survivability and not having to stop fighting to heal or want to heal less often you pick health regen. If you get hit seldomly or not at all then you don't really need to pick regen. Slot would be build specific where you absolutely need just one more slot. Defense is not worth it.

Affinity if below 225? raw (actual damage, after you account for bloat) otherwise attack and regen if you can stick to a monster and never stop swinging. So. Crit or lifesteal based on if you want to not need potions again or affinity if you like your crit boost or masters touch or something. Preference yo. Defence doesn't scale well due to defence diminishing returns and the gem slots aren't worth since once the dlc hits the sets have a gorillion slots.

I use nergigante 3 piece so i dont need healing.

Damage wise its always affinity on 1st slot.
