Completing all optional quests

So im having an issue where im trying to complete all of the optional quests, but ive run into a snag.

Ive captured about 3 low rank Anjanaths trying to unlock the special arena level 4 quest, but I noticed something off. Not only have I not gotten one yet, but theres a lot of level 5 quests that arent on my list even though ive completed them all (red completion, not blue). Ive gone to multiple quest lists online and it seems like im the only one who has this issue.

If you didnt get that: I have the stamp of all optionals completed even though I dont have them all in my list, I also cannot get all of the optionals for another tier of quests.

I have them all done, I can screenshot my quest list and you can look over it, what star do you need?

Go back to the "second town hub" the research ship or whatever it is called. you probably need to pick up the start of a certain quest chain from them. i think it's called a tingling taste or something like that.

Ive already checked multiple lists, maybe you missed the part where I said I have the red completion stamp on level 5 missions but I dont have all of the missions in it.

I checked the research base many times and there are none, I even went up to check with the third.

Arena quests aren't always displayed in the list. I haven't bothered checking why as it didn't mess with the "complete all optional quests" quest.

It is. some quests are "one time completion" only (mainly those that reward mantles. etc and special arena quests) they disappear from the list after completing them...so long as you have the orange completed text, youire done for that tier

Yea, it's basically 1 catch = 1 arena quest. So once you complete that arena quest, it goes away. until you catch another one. Though It is rather weird you're not getting Anjy to pop up when capturing him. Have you tried capturing the HR one to see if that helps? I think if I remember right, I've seen the HR ones pop both their LR and HR special arena versions.

I would go through and capture every monster for the rank 5 special arena quests

To clarify, special arena quests appear in the list of Completed quests IF you capture another monster (say, in the same arena maybe) and the arena is available again; otherwise, if you have no capped monsters for the tier, you won't see them. (EDIT: nvm, someone already explained it)

But yeah, they could do a better job of pointing you towards optionals when they're available, or unlockers when they should be available but you haven't done them.

Luckily, I saved up all arena quests for after Xeno; so I could quickly check if I'm missing any and not have to guess... "benefit" of having done it the hard way on PS4 already...

I do have similar issue, red completion - but the last optional arena i've done to get red completion isn't displayed.
In my case it was LR Radobaan if i recall

You only get one completion of Special Arena quests.

After that they reappear sporadically

This. Just capture every big monster you see at least once (don't bother for the Elder Dragons, you can't capture them)
Also check the research center, there's a questline given by NPCs (nets you the affinity booster)
For the very last 8* and 9* quests:
- fully research 15 monsters (to unlock 2 8* quests)
- fight 5-7-3 tempered monsters (5 rank 1 tempered, 7 rank 2 tempered and 3 rank 3 tempered) (to unlock 3 9* quests)
- get to HR100 (for the ultimate quest)
