Gunlance Augments (tier 8)

I'm a gunlance main. The only stone that dropped is a hero's. My three best weapons all need warrior's streamstones.

So, I'll have to make a temporary set with one of these:

Xeno Hemta
Daora's Brigia
Earthshaker Magda Lahat
Blue Chariot
Eradication Flame

I know the augment I want is Health regen. I know that it's a 10% of damage delt.

That implies that I'd want Eradication flame, highest damage, more gained health. But it's the lowest shelling level and can't be handicrafted.

Xeno Hemta is white sharpness, but lowest damage and only low elderseal.

Earthshaker has massive blast. But I won't get lifedrain from blast damage, will I?

I'd hold onto it, while augmenting is useful, it's not necessary. Plus I'm pretty sure that some of the Kulve weapons, and maybe even the Lunastra weapons are far better. Not 100% on that though, since I'm not a GL main player

I hope to have more of them by the time we get kluve or lunastra in 3-6 months.
This one, I want to use in order to make a set that will let me farm more, easier and faster.

Save it, either for a Kulve weapon or a regular lance augment, if you ever feel like switching. No point in augmenting something and switching up your working build just because.

none of those are particularily good... earthshaker magda has a niche use; but charged shelling is so bad/boring... i know youre asking because you droped a gold stone; but royal burst/ravenous gunlance (both purp) are far superior

do note that health regen triggers off of shelling and wyverns fire; so depending on your playstyle the shelling type will be important to the amount you heal

It also depends on your gunlance play style as well, with shelling and such. For instance you can go with the Jho Gunlance and do a full damage, no shelling build which is pretty viable. Or a full burst build with the Royal Burst Pink Rathian GL.

How about normal lances? Is there any R8 lance worth using? I have 7 hero streamstones for lances and I literally don't know what to do with them.

Go earthshaker.
All the other lances are garbage because you have to hit weakspots with your horrible slow motion combo to get anything at all done.
Nergi and jho are especially sad since you have to exclusively use them as a club and if you don't consistently hit those 200 damage slaps on the head because that broad, sweeping animation keeps clipping a toenail first instead which isn't a weakspot so no weakness exploit crit for you, you're falling behind the constant 100 damage charged magda shells real fast.

If you want to club faces or cut tails, the hammer and greatsword do it way better.
The gunlances special thing is hitting whatever part of the monster for full damage so you should focus on that instead of trying to be a pale imitation.

Just keep fighting tempered Elders. Streamstones ain't hard to come by while farming them. I wanted two hero streamstones for dual blades really badly, took me a few days to get and then the day after I got them I got an additional two for other dual blades I would've liked to augment.

As a few others have said the only one really of mention is the Earthshaker Magda Lahat.
If you like the look of or plan to use any of the other ones then It's likely not a bad investment.

It may be worth saving/using some of them on regular lances instead.

I went with eradication flame, I feel more comfortable with high elderseal as a crutch to help me through fighting more tempered elders.

I'll save my second hero lance stone for khula or lunestra or whatever comes out in a few months. If I get lucky and get warrior lance stones I'll upgrade the d-jho gunlance and use that.

Maybe someday I'll make some kind of gimic blast set to make the earthshaker really shine, but not today.

Nobody predicted my choice, but you firmly seem to be sure that I can keep doing what I'm doing, and not make too big of a fool of myself.

There's nothing gimmicky about it and it's very easy to put together, too. Long builds are actually the easiest to make, with the only required skills being Focus and Artillery. There're a lot of fun things you can do since you have so many free deco slots, like buff your Palico or go support with Wide Range for multiplayer. Just try it out! No investment necessary.

Barroth blaster 3 with 3 health augments is hella fun for a wide build, just make sure you get recovery up as well.

I was thinking zorra g once the tempered elder zorrah quest happened.

If you want best gunlances make sure they have shelling lvl 4 and currently only 2 has it one is earthshaker (zorah tree) long type & royalburst(rathian tree) normal type and shelling does heal you so health regen is pretty useful on gunlances.
