Toughest weapon to master?
I want the toughest experience from the start, never played a Monster Hunter Game before. I hear that it's either heavy bow gun or the charge blade.

Hey Skeletor, i would suggest you taking up Charge Blade or Gunlance.

To me charge blade feels some complexity when you wield the weapon. And once you have mastered the weapon you can feel some sense of accomplishment and it feels rewarding. Gunlance on the other hand is actually quite easy but pulling it off requires precision and have some knowledge with monsters you're fighting.

This is just my opinion so you can totally ignore my suggestion if you want but i would totally recommend for you to try them.

HBG now this is an interesting weapon, its not exactly hard but its more of an annoyance. Because when you use HBG you need to be in a certain range for you to get the maximum damage, you can know that when the shells hit the monsters and it'll shake your screen (this is true for Bows and LBG as well) but since HBG is very heavy and slow you might need some patience to learn the monsters moveset and time your attack when the opportunity arise. Also the need to aim properly because some monsters are actually quite fast and agile. However with PC, KB+M will surely help with you in aiming compared to the console version.

Oh one more thing, I suggest for you to try each weapon first. Try it in your room and talk to the cat to get you the training area. Once you've tried everything, now go find a monster and test each weapon as well. Because training and doing a live test is totally different.

Once you've tried all the weapons... Choose the weapon that you fall in love with not the hardest weapon. Because trust me you'll be with what weapon you choose for a long time. Its better to have fun with it instead of getting frustrated haha

Anyway happy hunting once the PC version release! All the best and may the Sapphire Star guide you on your journey!

Check out arekkz weapon tutorial videos, they give a very good idea of the depth a weapon has, https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHc2Wj95htvMxZR7dvgYwevupNBy9imiu

Guess you've never tried using a hammer with 3 longsword newbs who doesn't know the priorities on who gets to hit the head. For those who doesn't know, you'll probably never get a hit in with all the trips/flinches/staggers the others cause when they hit you with the LS.

i would digress, emote killing is by far the hardest to master period!

i had about 60 hours in monster hunter world on xbox and i mainly used the charged blade but from what i saw the insect glaive is definitely the hardest to master

Maybe hammer? i would say it's more annoying then hard, unlike The large sword, you have no way of blocking, and evading is your only means of defense, and without some effort put into evade window, you're going to get smacked around, alot till you get used to it, monsters like black diabolos and deviljho on ps4 were pure hell to fight with a hammer, so much so i HAD to change weapons for them to save my sanity.

People are going to say cb, but I disagree

I think its the insect glaive

sure you can be decent with it quite easily, but to be the 0 damage taken airborne rocket man it was really meant to be, you need to master it, and that can take a good chunk of time. no gaurd points, rather knowing every monster's attack (and any questionable hitboxes). no vials, kinsect farts. no crazy super attacks, just part shredding, lightning quick attacks.

The hardest thing about insect glaive is definitly something I found harder to master than cb (but ig is still my main) which was being able to use vaults to dodge and get significant damage in during said dodge

second would be light bowgun. I have no idea how you guys manage those bullets

easiest would be by far lance. you can literally just turtle and poke with the right builds

Play hammer. All the LS noobs and Narutards with their daggers will make your life so difficult you'll throw your PC out the window. Or you'll learn to golf swing them into low earth orbit. One or the other.

You may be thinking of the long sword. Great Sword is the big mean pieace of metal (or bone) that charges up while you hold the attack button.

Of course REAL hunters know you have to slap them with the flat of the blade. Doesnt do much damage physically but the EMOTIONAL hurt that does to monsters is off the charts.

Sword and shield.

Dang, is that a weapon ?

I know which it is, its that true slash or something like that, people spend more time charging it and getting hit by the monster wasting it than fighting the monster in some cases

Hard weapons are slow weapons. All fast weapons are easy.

Charge Blade is easy.

Longsword is pretty easy to pick up but to be able to use the longsword to its full potential takes a bit of time since its foresight slash evolves arounds knowing the monsters movements which is a base thing for most weapon but ive been enjoying the longsword recently.

in my experience, charge blade is the most complex weapon the game have, is not hard to use and do a decent amout of dps but is really hard to master and use all of the little hings he had, not only the main combo.
