HR 49, Tempered Kirin Quest
First time poster, this is purely out of curiosity, so after killing that beast i thought about something.
How was your first time finishing this quest?, did you beat him alone, with friends, or random SOS?

For me was after finally reaching him , (not flexing), i beat him alone with nergi SA and some thunder resistance on my first attempt. This took a while but worth it, the outcome is i lost the oppurtunity to farm his tracks. My build wasn't the best but i guess it's useful.

Sorry in advance if anyone finds my post a little offensive.

I used the Anjanath bow solo, it literally deleted kirin from existence

No need to apologize, you didn't say anything offensive. And if somebody has a problem with your post, it's their problem not yours.

Anyway, my experience was nothing fancy. I died once because I haven't fought kirin since the last time I played MH4U, and I had not unlocked the low rank kirin quest by that point so I had no opportunity to fight it beforehand. I was also wearing armor with negative thunder res so... yeah not the best idea. After I died I went to camp, took thunder res mantle and a vitality mantle, changed from charge blade to hammer, and killed it.

And then I was pissed off because I didn't farm the quest for investigations before completing it. I had to spend half an hour running around in the expeditions, hoping for a tempered elder dragon tracks and investigations.

I beat him with 2 cats. people keep saying in the forum that wait until HR49, T Kirin etc. So I came in with too much preparations. Food Element L, Mantles, Thunder resistance, Coral Orchestra gadget, Recruit trouper for more Coral Orchestra gadget.

Lol, i wasn't expecting to get to HR 49 today, after completing HR 29 cap. So i didn't prepare much like you, I already have a set for thunder damage, and i used the chef choice. Lucky for me was the buff is Att M and Element S

Thanks for that

I just beat him like 5 minutes ago for the first time. I kinda overprepared, i brought all the stackable attack and armor consumable, slot in 3 stun and 3 para resis jewel, ate food that gives resis (L) and used voucher to get the skill i want which is insurance and bombardier. brought lots of healing item and mega bomb barrel.. broke the horn very early and defeated it in 13mins which i think is fine(im not sure what's the average time to beat one). Kinda feel empty now because there is nothing for me to do other than to farm for decorations and wait for iceborne :\

My time was around 15 minutes, total was 20 because i was farming tracks. So your time is decent

Yeah, the difficulty was way overhyped IMO. I did a lot of LR Kirin farming on my first character, so I didn't really have an issue with it. Was using the Anja SA, I'm pretty sure.

The quest took me 2 attempts.

First attempt was through SOS. You know how that goes with random.

Second attempt was solo, using Nergi's GS.

To be fair though, I know Kirin since Monster Hunter Portable (PSP). So it was like visiting old friends

Kirin is the monster that separates players who have brain and players that doesn't. If you charge at him like zombies, well good luck.

I did it 2nd try with an LBG burst firing normal 2.

Solo DB nightmare, think I resorted to just dropping Mega Bombs around for it to charge into.

Kirin is a nightmare for low damage weapons, due to his speed. So the most effective weapon to beat him for melee is GS i think.
