How to unlock augmentation?
Could anyone please explain to me how to unlock augmentations and further upgrading armor/weapons?

I know that you need hero streamshard for unlocking, but I ain't sure how to go about it... So far I finished a few tempeted Rathalos and Odogaron quests but no luck thus far.

Also please explain which materials will I need to further augment my weapons and armor?

Ok so considering that you are HR 58, that means you have finished the story and will need to find a hero or warrior's streamstone to unlock augmentation. You will have a better chance of finding a streamstone doing Threat Level 3 Tempered Monster Investigations. The Threat Level 3 Monsters are: Nergigante, Teostra, Kirin, Lunastra, Vaal Hazak, and Kushala Doara.

Problem is as of now I only have threat 2 investigations and even so, not alot of them.

It's still possible to unlock augmentation from level 2 threats right?

The monsters that you were fighting are threat level 2 (HR 30). Do only threat level 3 (HR 50).

Yes you can get a streamstone from threat level 2 but its pretty low. Threat level 2 investigations are best for decoration farming. You might need gems from monsters in order to augment weapons and armor.

You can join threat level 3 investigations from people if you dont have any. The best way to unlock threat level 3 investigations is by collecting footprints so start collecting them from the elder dragons

for augs it's mostly gems from certain monsters, anjanath, rathian ruby, etc etc. the elder dragons also reward you 'gleaming' streamstone, which is required for your R8 augs, threat 2 monsters won't have this, they give the R7 streamstones. so keep that in mind when farming as well.

when the festival starts, there's a couple quests that have a bunch of tempered monster tracks inside them, that you can do over and over again. don't forget to do 'greeting the gluttons' to farm your food vouchers to trigger your cat skills as well.

To unlock augments, you need to get either a Warrior's or Hero's Streamstone. You have a better chance of getting those from Tier 3 Tempered Monsters, ie Elder Dragons. Vaal Hazak and Nergigante are considered the easiest to grind for them. Not to be confused with Arch Tempered.

So the gleaming stone and stream stone work the same for both armor and weapons?
I heard augmenting armor is less grindy.

And is the festival gonna be the same as january's? With the giant great jagras?

Are Arch tempered monsters available only through events??
If so, is that the case on PS4, too?

yes. every event up to this point. including greatest (source of attack jewels) jagras

streamstones for armor... not sure on that. would need to wiki or beg someone else to weigh in. i often don't mind this detail because i farm for a long time before deciding to do an upgrading/augmenting spree =p

Until you can farm the event quest with T3 tracks (I can't remember its name, but it's a cook quest to gather amber in the Elder's Recess, it should be available during the Spring Festival), your best shot at getting T3 investingations is to find a Teo or Kushala blue track in the Elder's Recess, and get an investigation from it (sadly it's random, like T1/2 tracks). Then you do this investigation, but instead of attacking you follow Kushala / Teo around (they'll never attack first) and collect their tracks to farm more investigations. This way you can get a lot of T3 investigations for Kushala, Teo or Nerg, and then it's just a matter of fighting the one you're most confortable with and getting this Streamstone drop.
