Looking at armor now to make sure my Palico stays longer in the battle.
Make him wear what looks the best for you
however it actually doesn't make much difference since palicos have something like 300 defense at max level when 'naked'. So I'd honestly prioritise what looks best in your opinion.
thats the GOOD part, means you can dress him as you want.
technically you can go overkill and go resistzances versus the different monsters and/or use kulve taroth since it has the highest defense, but w/e if you dont run the "palico solokills Elder Dragons while you cornerlance" build it doesnt matter that much.
i personally like to run him ona poison weapon since being poisoned does disable some special moves and it feels like being poisoned makes monsters take more and longer breathing breaks
And I think the second part may be coincidence. I do often see exhausted monsters under the effects of poison, but since it lasts 45s that's a pretty big window for overlap to occur, and can be re-stacked during that duration potentially keeping it up permanently.
That said If you have/can find solid evidence to the contrary of either then that would genuinely be great, since poison seems to be generally considered the worst status in World. Exposing lesser known properties may make it more desirable.
As for me, I tend to bring the paralysis or sleep weapon. The surprise openings can be handy to get some free hits or a breather if things were getting dicey.
Poison disabling elder auras was replaced with elderseal. Poison also has nothing to do with monster stamina use.
That's not how the game works.
As for palico armor, most of the palico's defense value comes from its level.
Unless you want to run a setup where your palico does more damage than you, armor's more of a cosmetic thing for them.
