Why is the Leshen fight so awful?
it just continuously spawns adds, puts up walls up when i think about attacking it head on, and when i get close it bleed procs me. when i finally get to the last stage pukei-pukei just gets wrecked by adds and i have to restart the game. :fmad:

But what is the augmented defence of this stuff? Is it 92 for each piece ( if it is then there is a reason for me to get it! ).

Seems to be 90 per piece based on this video. 2.06 onwards.

thats the worst part of it tbh. the fight its self isnt too hard, and i rarely actually die. its the defending a creature with a large hitbox who has less HP than a palico, does less damage than a palico, and takes more agro than a palico with that shield gear item that pisses me off. actually managed to do it though. people who said to flash it where wrong/lying. flashing does nothing. it just makes the trash enemies stop for a second and nothing at all to the boss. spairing use of igni and placing an LBG mine when the boss teleported is what helped me kill it.

i noticed that every time it teleports as a distance closer it does a melee attack. when a large monster melees a mine it does a max damage explosion, and some times i could get 2 max damage explosions off of 1 mine.
using the LBG also gave me an easy way of breaking its head so it spawned less adds, and it allowed me an extra way to heal PP

on the final stage of the fight (the part i hate the most) i basically just focused any adds that spawned, and when PP got low on HP i did what ever healing was easiest to do at the given moment. if PP was unable to hit the boss i would use igni to burn any vine walls in the way (because that was usually the problem).

the entire fight i only used a single flash bug (not even a flash pod) and used igni probably 6 or 7 times

Imagine that.

You used the tools at hand and succeeded.

i mean, it took me only 1 failure to figure that out.

though to be fair, i went in knowing i had to keep something alive so i went LBG. it went south when leshen went into the area great jagras feeds the kids. those tight quarters were NOT easy to fight in and both me and PP died at the same time. 2nd time around he went out near camp 1 and it was super easy by comparison.
monrebauz May 11, 2019 @ 12:54pm
Tbh he is not that hard I did him first try with LBG. My friend did him also first try with hammer and he doesnt even used one Lifepower to keep pukie alive. Just kill the adds asap with your weapon of choice or ignit. I did it with LBG because you can craft new heal1´s to keep pukie alive. They are so many herbs around or honey for crafting new potions and ammo but you only need potions for the last phase tbh.

I was able to beat leshen and keep pukei pukei alive all on the first try. It was also the very first time I ever used the sns. Can't believe people had trouble with this quest.

well my guess is a lot of people stayed focused on leshen and ignored the adds and those said adds just annihilate pukie faster than you would imagine. basically resulting in a failure.

Same, although I had read stuff beforehand about how the Pukei is pretty fragile and leaving it to duke it out with 1 Jagras helps so I knew to try that strat out.

I can see how it could be annoying on slower weapons, but on SnS the fight is pretty easy while also being fun. Speed + dodging his attacks using both the backstep and scaling slash means with some luck and timing you can just wail on him pretty much nonstop!

Yeah I hate the fight too. Also
Geralt....
Never....
Shuts....
Up....
Then...
Steals...
Your...
Camera...
To....
Walk....
Slow....
So when you have to do the quest over and over and over... you have to sit through stuff you can't skip.
Pukei-Pukei is an annoyance... people hate escort missions for a reason. This is it.

Also they put in a lot of text and NPC development.... that you can't enjoy because there is no time. Then of course the Bleed/Stun combo.
Saber May 11, 2019 @ 2:28pm
Can't play as yourself? Check.
Escort mission? Check.
Requires work outside of the quest itself? Check.

So annoying..

That means they must be full of crap too now.

I think if you break its horns, it can't summon Jargras anymore. Just use a bow, constantly rain down pebbles, and keep KO-ing him until he croaks. EZ peezy.
IAmLoco May 11, 2019 @ 2:58pm
This fight isn't really that bad with SnS. SnS allows you to manipulate distance with incredible ease and speed. Leshen's attacks have readable telegraphs and while the timing of the roots is a bit wonky, once you get the hang of it, you can simply walk away, wait for the roots to pop up and rush in to deal some hits even BEFORE the leshen recovers from its attacks.

This fight really changed my perspective towards SnS.

Part of being a witcher involves gathering items from around the locale and doing prep work. I think that's what they were trying to emulate here, hence why you can't go inside the tent and use the Hunter's inventory to craft. Getting materials for lifepowder, flashbugs, etc. before the main fight makes it so much easier than just bullrushing in. If anything, this is just a revisit to our first run of the game where we didnt have our own little farm for mats back at base. It might sound annoying, but getting the mats for more flashpods and lifepowders takes about 3 minutes tops.
