Seems to be 90 per piece based on this video. 2.06 onwards.
i noticed that every time it teleports as a distance closer it does a melee attack. when a large monster melees a mine it does a max damage explosion, and some times i could get 2 max damage explosions off of 1 mine.
using the LBG also gave me an easy way of breaking its head so it spawned less adds, and it allowed me an extra way to heal PP
on the final stage of the fight (the part i hate the most) i basically just focused any adds that spawned, and when PP got low on HP i did what ever healing was easiest to do at the given moment. if PP was unable to hit the boss i would use igni to burn any vine walls in the way (because that was usually the problem).
the entire fight i only used a single flash bug (not even a flash pod) and used igni probably 6 or 7 times
You used the tools at hand and succeeded.
though to be fair, i went in knowing i had to keep something alive so i went LBG. it went south when leshen went into the area great jagras feeds the kids. those tight quarters were NOT easy to fight in and both me and PP died at the same time. 2nd time around he went out near camp 1 and it was super easy by comparison.
Same, although I had read stuff beforehand about how the Pukei is pretty fragile and leaving it to duke it out with 1 Jagras helps so I knew to try that strat out.
I can see how it could be annoying on slower weapons, but on SnS the fight is pretty easy while also being fun. Speed + dodging his attacks using both the backstep and scaling slash means with some luck and timing you can just wail on him pretty much nonstop!

So when you have to do the quest over and over and over... you have to sit through stuff you can't skip.
Pukei-Pukei is an annoyance... people hate escort missions for a reason. This is it.
Also they put in a lot of text and NPC development.... that you can't enjoy because there is no time. Then of course the Bleed/Stun combo.
Escort mission? Check.
Requires work outside of the quest itself? Check.
So annoying..
That means they must be full of crap too now.
This fight really changed my perspective towards SnS.
