So you actually get why he's seeing it as a gimmick, in the end :p
Back to OP:
That's just the first announcement we've had so far, there's gonna be more down the line. Stop acting the same way people did after the first MHW announcement, when they were basically saying "Oh no its gonna be bad!" even though they knew nothing of what was gonna be released.
Also...like...Even in previous MH, most monsters share a very small numbers of skeletons...So what are even on about, is it just bad faith for the sake of being negative?
At this point, we can just say that Seregios is just a reskin of rathalos, Narga was just a reskin of Tigrex! Jho is a reskin of Uragaan! Ceanataur is a reskin of Hermitaur! Come on.
I'm not interested in the least in the slinger, and a new piscine wyvern is something I couldn't care less about since I hate that archetype of monsters because they're just plain and boring to me.
Yet the way you react, you're kinda jumping the gun here.
Hopefully Master Rank will fix all this, but....I dunno, I got a weird feeling they'll still go easy on us.
I personally don't like that I can juggle Nergi by abusing his auto-trip mechanic by breaking his white horns with relative ease, but at the same time I don't mind that I can enjoy a more casual session of monster hunter without having to worry about min maxing every second I spend fighting a grank monster in the older games.
If they raise the stagger values of monsters in Master Rank, then I think we'll see a good balance, although this may be broken again due to the clutch claw ability we are now getting.
Also mantles, the thing those broken mantles are capcom excuse to add very poor AT monsters, being only HP sponges with one-shot damage, i think only Xeno and Val got new moves other just straight buffed stats to the sky.
Again, I can see both sides of the coin when people say this game is too easy. On the one hand I agree completely and would love a solid 10+ min battle with a monster that could go either way, but on the other I'm more then ok with the games current direction which focuses on us as hunters being more badass/flashy and the monsters going down easier then previous titles.
At the end of the day, I want master rank to be hard, but not annoyingly so.
