Thoughts on Iceborne "New moves"
Man this is some hardcore disappointment I'm feeling. I was hoping we'd get new weapon types or at the very least new combos or movesets to make the game feel fresh in contrast to how stale it's gotten but it's just new slinger crap. I love how exciting they made it seem in the livestream like "OH YEAH YOU CAN NOW FIRE YOUR SLINGER WITH YOUR WEAPON DRAWN!! THE ALL NEW COMBOS ARE BEING ABLE TO FIRE YOUR SLINGER BETWEEN GREATSWORD CHARGES! AND DODGING WHILE FIRING THE SLINGER!! DID WE MENTION THE SLINGER!?"

lol man slinger is one of the most pointless additions in MHW. I love the new area since I'm a big fan of the locales in MH Freedom Unite, but just as well disappointed that the new monsters are just reskins of pre-existing ones. Like you can even see in the livestream at this timestamp: https://youtu.be/DCJHFY85-Kc?t=2734 That it's just another variation of the Barroth and Jyuratodus, and they even have the same turf war animations. Idk how many variations of the plesioth we need in this series but it's getting old. Sand shark, lava shark, mud shark, snow shark etc. I'd rather see the gold rathian/ silver rathalos return if anything. Least we got Nargacuga.

But ultimately, by far the worst, and I mean absolute worst part of all of this, is the HANDLER comes with you in the new expansion! I THOUGHT I WAS FINALLY GOING TO BE FREE OF THE ITEM STEALING, ONE BRAIN-CELLED ♥♥♥♥♥!!! WHY CAPCOM WHY!!!

Actually i like the new focus on the singler becouse the thing its useless outside throwing flashs and it is one the unique things of MHW.

That's just the first announcement we've had so far, there's gonna be more down the line. Stop acting the same way people did after the first MHW announcement, when they were basically saying "Oh no its gonna be bad!" even though they knew nothing of what was gonna be released.

Also...like...Even in previous MH, most monsters share a very small numbers of skeletons...So what are even on about, is it just bad faith for the sake of being negative?
At this point, we can just say that Seregios is just a reskin of rathalos, Narga was just a reskin of Tigrex! Jho is a reskin of Uragaan! Ceanataur is a reskin of Hermitaur! Come on.

I'm not interested in the least in the slinger, and a new piscine wyvern is something I couldn't care less about since I hate that archetype of monsters because they're just plain and boring to me.
Yet the way you react, you're kinda jumping the gun here.

Same with gems, like good lord it's not even worth grinding for gems because by the time you finally get all the gems you want, you've already beaten everything the game has to offer so there's no challenge left and it renders the whole reason for grinding for gems pointless.

thankfully chungus and lavashit event quests kinda fixed the gem part. but the rng on decos is still some unhuman ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. instead they should have just let you meld every deco but require the player to have some insane amounts of decos to feed the melder for high tier decos. like 100 decos for 1 specific deco. that is atleast a grind with a goal. the current grind is just pure endless rng.
Yeah exactly man.

Honestly, the new Brute reminds me more of Duramboros than Barroth. Even then it still has some new stuff to make him interesting. The new fish can go die somewhere, though.

I'm not saying Iceborne is going to be bad exactly, I haven't played it yet so I can't even judge. I'm just expressing my personal feedback based on what I have seen so far, and what I'd like to see instead. I'm well aware MH has been recycling skeletons since it's inception but that doesn't mean I like it. I've been playing since the first monhun on ps2 and I just want to see more variety especially for a full fledged expansion pack. If we're going to use recycled skeletons I'd at least like to see all the monsters from previous games make a return just so there'd be more to do. The main thing I want to see though is new weapon movesets or weapon categories. If we can get that I'll be happy enough.

Please no. Leave that garbage in Gen where it belongs.

Dude the weapons are all so boring to use right now.

They told us more are coming on E3. It's still tip of the iceberg now.

The game is rather stale, even with the new content it might still be. I wish they included more fights against giant monsters like the handhelds
Joeynator3000 May 10, 2019 @ 9:21pm
I dunno about being stale, main issue I had with World is the difficulty. I mean, I know it's just high rank, but even Nergigante was a pushover. In Gen U, Valstrax in high rank still had me struggling to stay alive. lol

Hopefully Master Rank will fix all this, but....I dunno, I got a weird feeling they'll still go easy on us.

We just have a lot more tools at our disposal. Our hunters in MHW are far stronger then they were in the older games. I see this as both good and bad.

I personally don't like that I can juggle Nergi by abusing his auto-trip mechanic by breaking his white horns with relative ease, but at the same time I don't mind that I can enjoy a more casual session of monster hunter without having to worry about min maxing every second I spend fighting a grank monster in the older games.

If they raise the stagger values of monsters in Master Rank, then I think we'll see a good balance, although this may be broken again due to the clutch claw ability we are now getting.

Also mantles, the thing those broken mantles are capcom excuse to add very poor AT monsters, being only HP sponges with one-shot damage, i think only Xeno and Val got new moves other just straight buffed stats to the sky.

Honestly, I don't even use mantles or slingers, I just forget those things even exist. lol

Yeah I'm in the same boat, I don't use my mantles ever unless I'm -really- in a hurry.

Again, I can see both sides of the coin when people say this game is too easy. On the one hand I agree completely and would love a solid 10+ min battle with a monster that could go either way, but on the other I'm more then ok with the games current direction which focuses on us as hunters being more badass/flashy and the monsters going down easier then previous titles.

At the end of the day, I want master rank to be hard, but not annoyingly so.
