from what i understand its from the first hit. so a GS stands to gain the most benefit, but a CB SAED blade hit could be comperable. especially if you are using elemental phials and the enemy takes those in their weakest spot to phials.

Good to know, might use it for Kulve when she is asleep. Ice cb phials to her face with the mantle on, oof.

Though the mantle seems buggy as hell. I just did Kushala twice with it, I hit him with normal attacks, first charge, second and true charge and the mantle didn't deplete, however there wasn't any damage increase as well. On top of that he instantly aggro'd me without being attacked, I never had that happening to me.

In the training area the mantle works as it should, depletes after 1 hit. Really weird.
Was the Kushla awake? Just because he doesn't auto-aggro doesn't mean he might not be "aware" of you. Have you tested it on a sleeping monster?

It worked on Kulve and she was awake, well, stunned by the boulders. And Kushala was both blinded at the ground and knocked down afterwards, neither triggered the effect.

The aggro'ing part happened the moment I was in his sight, without doing any damage - to clear out the misunderstanding. (Usually you can just walk up to anyone but Lunastra and plant bombs, but this time Kush went instant aggro).

To be fair, walking up to Kushla with the mantle on should send up some red flags. Pretty sure Kushla thought "You're practically yelling 'Sneak Attack!'"

I was praying though.

Basically, if you put it on while the monster knows you're there, it doesn't go away.
If the monster runs or sleeps and you have it on, damage bonus and it goes away.

You can use it on AT Kulve Taroth in area 4, when she's doing an animation in which she stands up on 2 legs (fire breathing, for example), in order to flinch her and get a trip, a knockdown. You use a smoke bomb first to hide, then mantle + any weapon attack. It is similar to the dragon pod trip, but independent of it, so you can get 2 such trips in a fight.

According to gameeconomist's test the mantle damage bonus doesn't stack with the wakeup bonus. You could try using a smoke bomb to de-aggro and get the hit but honestly it's alot of trouble and 1 less mantle to use.

Still another tool for reaching the highest numbers possible. I've seen some ridiculous steps to achieve high numbers and this seems like a fairly simple overall bonus.

I've seen a run where a wyversnipe 1 shot a tempered bazel
that would be either team darkside's doing or a cheater.
Team Darkside and Cheater are the same thing
