Lavasioth Gems.....
I know I should be more mature about this and not make a huge thing about this, but..

I just spend 5minutes in a hunt with someone calling me a dumbass for stating that Lavasioth spews out more gems in the area he spawns in.

So the talk started with him binging the map constantly near the lava sprout and stating "don't fight there!" meaning the top area where someone was trying to lure him back into.

So I say; "He doesn't spew many gems down below" (because he doesn't do the jumping that he does up top)

That's when this person starting to call me names and that my statements make no sense and I'm a dumbass. So I just leave the quest and I presume they did as well.

But it really got to me. Something that is so obvious and people call you names without doing any research on the subject is just wrong.

So, to anyone who doesn't know how it works;

Lavasioth has 2 ways to dish out gems.

1. His big magmaball explosion has a chance of leaving a gem on the ground.
2. When he jumps around between the holes on the spawn area he spews magma from it's body and those dish out more gems.
3.After certain amount of gem drops, Lavasioth completely stops spewing gems when he jumps around. But he still does spew them with the exploding magmaball.
3. His normal lavaball attack (that doesnt explode) does NOT dish out any gems.

So, if you're anywhere other than the spawn area your only chance for him to spew out gems is for him to fire the exploding magmaball attack.

That is why generally you should lure him to get back into the spawn area.
To help with this, you should bring the Challenger Mantle with you to make the luring easier.

Alternatively the way you lure Lavasioth back up is to have ONE hunter go and trigger the monster so that their minimap circle turns red. That's when they can start slowly bringing Lavasioth back up. (This is somewhat difficult depending on what Lavasioth decides to do)

Try to speed run lavasioth. 99% of the decorations it spews out are trash while you're always guaranteed to get warped feystone on quest completion which has the best chance of giving you a high rarity deco like spread, attack, and handicraft.

tbh when I fought him, it only took 3-4 sets of jumps before he completely stopped dropping gems (even via the explosive shot). Which, provided you aren't abusing the heck out of him, is a fairly typical amount.

While the other player was being kind of an ass (and you both kinda were by the sounds of it) it probably would've been more sensible to just finish the fight rather than bicker about where the fight was taking place.

Yeah I know speedrunning or just doing it solo in general is the best way ofcourse.

I can understand them turning Jagras into a big pinyata, but it seems that this Lavasioth quest is nothing more than a pity quest for an otherwise hated monster. Next deco quest should have Jyuratodus spamming rolls while constantly slinging mud that turns into deco, but only lasts as long as the mud is up so you gotta actually dive into it to check. :steamhappy:

Yeah it's somewhere around max. 5 jumps for drops. But generally he only gets to jump twice especially if he's being trapped by pitfall or shocktraps.

Don't bother with people who argue like that. Once spent 5 minutes arguing with a guy who was absolutely certain that ice was the way to go on KT phases 1-3.

I suppose this who gem system is about to take a whole another turn when Iceborne comes out. General thoughts has been that the gemfarming is the dumbest part of world and is in need of a serious overhaul. So I have some hope Capcom listens to those complaints. But time will tell.

I think thats one of the reasons why they were ok with releasing these pinyata quests, cause they might not hold any merit in the future.

The funny part is that I wasn't even trying to argue him. Just stated what is true.
Only to get called names and only then thought, well maybe he needs some reason why that is.. Just to get blasted again. Wasn't fun.

Luckily the very next hunt had a person super exited when he learned that a monster follows you if the map is glowing red :'D

I happened to watch this this morning and I think as long as you are able to clear it in 3 min 20 secs or no more than 67% the speed you personally take to do The Great Jargras, you are good.

So, it's probably more about speed running it for the 2 Warped Feystones the quest gives and not so much the drops.

This is the older video where they showed how to get The Great Jargras is 2min. From 11.38 onwards:

Thing is not everyone is doing the quest for Feystones. Some people do want lower tier jewels as well. So in general, when doing random hunts with random people I would want to spend as much time up top to get as many gems as possible, even the low tier ones.

sure it's not optimal if I'd want that one attack deco. But there are other decos in the game.

i doubt that everyone would agree
people play the fish only for the rewards
it was the less played monster before the event appeared.
nobody likes it because of this stupid lava mechanic.

Btw How about asking the host what goal he tries to reach?

That's literally the entire reason to do the lavasioth cause fighting it is just annoying. Greatest chungus is fun imo as it spits out decos after knocking it down after inflating so that's just a 2 for 1 but there's no way any normal person enjoys fighting lavasioth.
You already get enough low tier decorations from everything and you're not guaranteed a high rarity decoration from the high rarity feystones so wasting time to get more trash decos which you'll probably get already but in higher quantities is just not worth doing.

People most likely don't know it's better to speedrun and think it's better to farm when it's not.

Maturity from someone in this community?
More likely in Dark Souls forum.
Xilo The Odd May 8, 2019 @ 2:53pm
dont let it get to you. thats my advice. typically someone with the audacity to call someone a dumbass over the internet has a very meager social life outside their computer and is a sad individual.
Cumbusted May 8, 2019 @ 3:04pm
Yup, at that point you realise who you're dealing with, finish the hunt, and move on.
Maybe make your lobby more specific toward what you wanna accomplish.
Lavasioth isn't great for farming anyway though.
