While the other player was being kind of an ass (and you both kinda were by the sounds of it) it probably would've been more sensible to just finish the fight rather than bicker about where the fight was taking place.
Yeah I know speedrunning or just doing it solo in general is the best way ofcourse.
Yeah it's somewhere around max. 5 jumps for drops. But generally he only gets to jump twice especially if he's being trapped by pitfall or shocktraps.
I suppose this who gem system is about to take a whole another turn when Iceborne comes out. General thoughts has been that the gemfarming is the dumbest part of world and is in need of a serious overhaul. So I have some hope Capcom listens to those complaints. But time will tell.
I think thats one of the reasons why they were ok with releasing these pinyata quests, cause they might not hold any merit in the future.
The funny part is that I wasn't even trying to argue him. Just stated what is true.
Only to get called names and only then thought, well maybe he needs some reason why that is.. Just to get blasted again. Wasn't fun.
Luckily the very next hunt had a person super exited when he learned that a monster follows you if the map is glowing red :'D
I happened to watch this this morning and I think as long as you are able to clear it in 3 min 20 secs or no more than 67% the speed you personally take to do The Great Jargras, you are good.
So, it's probably more about speed running it for the 2 Warped Feystones the quest gives and not so much the drops.
This is the older video where they showed how to get The Great Jargras is 2min. From 11.38 onwards:

Thing is not everyone is doing the quest for Feystones. Some people do want lower tier jewels as well. So in general, when doing random hunts with random people I would want to spend as much time up top to get as many gems as possible, even the low tier ones.
sure it's not optimal if I'd want that one attack deco. But there are other decos in the game.
people play the fish only for the rewards
it was the less played monster before the event appeared.
nobody likes it because of this stupid lava mechanic.
Btw How about asking the host what goal he tries to reach?
You already get enough low tier decorations from everything and you're not guaranteed a high rarity decoration from the high rarity feystones so wasting time to get more trash decos which you'll probably get already but in higher quantities is just not worth doing.
People most likely don't know it's better to speedrun and think it's better to farm when it's not.
More likely in Dark Souls forum.
Maybe make your lobby more specific toward what you wanna accomplish.
Lavasioth isn't great for farming anyway though.
