Are cosmetic mods safe to use?
I know this question has been asked like 5 million times by now, but I am still not sure about the subject. I would love to wear some of the armours (like, for instance, Great Girros's armour set), but most of them are pretty pathetic statistics wise. I've seen mods like a DPS meter or light pillars above items and I would have been using them by now, but I am simply to scared of getting a ban just because I used a "no-no" mod, and I have an almost 300 hours put into the game to lose.

No, if you die in game you die for real.

And have you seen even a single person say they've been banned?

Fortunately no, but this does not mean that there were not any cases of that. I may be a little paranoic when it comes to being banned though (I got a VAC ban like 10 years ago, so you might say it its a sort of a trauma). Heck, I will make my great sword look like Guts's.

Well they actually stated that they wont ban anyone for cosmetic only mods. At the same post they even shared a nexusmods link with an exchange skin for xeno.
Also stated that no one gets banned for mods that don't change any numbers or give any other advantages.
Light Pillar should be usable as long as it doesn't light up slinger ammo.
Damage Meter is a no go they stated that on previous titel's. Especially the ones showing you part health and so on.
Also not allowed to have content and their items before release.

Custom Quest Mods should be ok as long as they don't grant higher drops / exp / money than their normal counterparts would.

There are things that are discussed like savegame & shop. Not sure about them but if i ever lose my save i sure use that. Otherwise i advice against it.

Rule of Thumb they wont ban if you don't ruin the game for others.

there are currently no known cases of people getting banned for using mods or just plain cheating with god mode and instant kills.

however, its on you if you break your save with a mod, and it has happened with cosmetic mods, so keep that in mind. a case that comes to mind is when they put out a patch that removed some armor files and anybody that was using that armor in transmog got a crash on load until the files were put back.

As long as they are client sided, nobody will even know you are using them. So you are fine.

just don't be that guy that breaks the game for everybody or causes mass crashing by using a weird broken/bootleg version of a mod

Unless you use the Transmog mod. It changes the visual values in a way those without the mod still see the changes you make, but Transmog only uses in-game armor. It's a harmless mod that allows you to use some of the lower level, but still nice looking armors without gimping yourself. Think the only illegal thing the Transmog mod could do would give players who didn't unlock the Samurai Layered Armor the option to still use the appearance, but that's just a guess on my part.

Yep. Im talking about those mods that add assets into the game and try to force their use on everybody, causing an absolute disaster. Never seen one personally, but plenty of threads about it

no such reports and no ban waves.will you please stop beliving every stranger on the internet?
i have yet to find a single person getting banned for anything on MHW.
even those 00,01 arena record players are still around.

Meh, I've used Transmog for a while. Then I stopped playing MHW for a while, and reinstalled it lately, and couldn't be bothered to install Transmog, or any other mods for that matter.

Was doing the Behemoth, and some guy with a hammer just one shotted it. Not gonna lie, that kinda ruined the entire session, considering it was down to something around 25% hp left. Or so I would've figured judging by how much time we had left, with just the three of us.

Not even sure why the one dude decided to join in the first place. He joined after 10 mins, so wouldn't greatly benefit off of rewards. Maybe he was looking to ruin the fun of the game.

Either or, I might use Transmog again. I'm personally one of those people who play Fashion Hunter, however, the armor combo's I have mixed and match already do have decent stats, and they don't look too bad either.

I personally would say you'd be safe using Transmog. The only time I couldn't see it being safe, is if you're HR 1-5, and look like you're wearing Full Elder Dragonsets of armor. Someone might not inspect your gear, and instantly accuse you of hacking.

If you have access to all the monsters though, I don't see it being a problem.

Also does anyone know if Transmog can do the opposite yet, and make it look like you're wearing the default naked clothing? I would wanna do that, just for fun. See people's reaction when I don't get one shot by the AT Kulve....

I have read it 5 million times, but Im still going to make another thread about it for the sake of making a thread.
Jimison Jun 22, 2019 @ 9:22pm
Just because you made the thread doesnt mean youre going to get different answers then what you read.
Cultured Degenerate Jun 22, 2019 @ 10:06pm
I've been using the multiplayer-enabled transmog mod since launch with no issues. You'll be fine.
