You can find the counter stance of lance introduce in mhp3, the different spirit sword level compare to previously single level only, similar combo of dual blade, etc.
The monsters kept their movesets. In World, it's just more smooth, ie after a charge, the ian turns normally, in past games she would do so by turning 90° degrees multiple times.
World is very different from core MH games.
Gs = Play with crit draw and aim to charge once, roll, sheathe. Rinse and repeat.
Katanoob = No easy dodge.
DS = Similar.
Hammer = No white charge. Same moveset. Spam lvl 3 charge when you stop moving.
Lance = Similar, except for the super protection.
GL = Similar without the fuse that does a ♥♥♥♥ ton of damage. Get guard auto, you'll guard when reloading your ammo.
HH= You can't store all the songs at once. Do one song, trigger it, rinse and repeat.
Switch axe = similar, but you can only switch to axe and sword with two animations from each weapon.
Bow = Half armor, every charge has a type of arrow used. Way more complex than world.
All in all, just keep playing MHW, except if you're interested in MH in itself and want more content than what Worls has to offer.
she* and I know exactly what I'm talking about because I've played them and certainly got more hours in them than you have 'veteran', I didn't even mention p3rd specifically, your bias is showing
an accomplished veteran such as yourself would know that mhp3rd doesn't even go to G-rank which is equivalent to master rank, playing an older more clunkier game's high rank wouldn't help OP prepare for iceborne's MASTER RANK in a huge way like I said earlier
if I was going to recommend an older game for OP to play to prepare for master rank I would recommend 4ultimate, it has g rank and also has weapon augmentations just like world does
MHFU is the best game, ♥♥♥♥ everything else
