once it fills to the max, older ones that you haven't locked in will be replaced with newer ones. its a never ending cycle. rest your fears.
Investigation don't replenish, you have to get it by gathering track/break part (no guarantee here all RNG)
Bounties on the other hand will replenish itself for each bounties you complete, except weekly bounties because you know... it's weekly
Both are unlimited, but investigation have a cap of 200 pass that limit and the oldest one will be removed for new investigations. You also don't need to do any investigation at all, but if you want farming for materials and later streamstone/decos, it's the best way
Edit: you can only accept 50 investigation, but it's not locked permanent, you can deselect those you don't want anymore to select the desired investigation
I feel kinda dense for not realizing what the purpose of Investigations were.
I had thought you had to take the Optional Quests to re-fight the monster in question, like I recently had to do to get Barroth and Ajanath parts.
(The Hammer I got from that was totally worth it, of course. But I might've enjoyed an alternative method)
What's the difference between re-fighting a monster (i.e. farming it) by an Optional Quest, versus an Investigation Quest?
Investigations can have increased zenny rewards, different hunt durations (15/30/50 minutes), different faint limits (1/2/3/5 faints), multiple monsters, potential capture requirements, specific map alterations (for example, flourishing mushrooms, more rare minerals, etc.), and always come with additional rewards (shown as multiple bronze, silver, gold, or purple (tempered only) boxes).
If you ever need to hunt for parts, always run investigations instead.
I'll keep that in mind from now on.
Thanks everyone for the info.
And here I've always cleaned it up of the Vestipod garbage to keep it from maxing out. Oof.
