Not an exaggeration at all. Unskippable cutscenes are generally considered archaic and looked down upon by gamers.
Basically, they suck. And they suck hard in World (especially if you have multiple characters).
That's not reasonable at all IMO. That's more of a "get over yourself, bro" situation to me (in regards to MH team). It just sounds obnoxious.
I said this in a previous thread about the same topic a couple of days ago:
"It's not like the DMC5 team (who worked incredibly hard to hire actual people to play their characters, scan their faces, and do all the mo-cap) made their cutscenes skippable, right?
Oh wait. They did -_- "
And check out the interviewer's comment/sound reasoning at 1:05 in the video below. It's what any logical person would ask, too.

Is art that you're forced to see and shoved in your face really still art?
LOL and usualy those type of gamer skip everything and then go on forum asking "hey what i have do to after this? "bucause yeah let's skill the cutscene that would have explained in detail what i should do
know what? this is your problem not the game fault
Learn to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ relax. It's just a cutscene.
This is usually the case.
I know if I had a cutscene in my game, I would want everyone and their mothers to see it. And since there isn't much of a story in MHW, the times when we get to see it should be pushed out so people don't just ignore it and get confused why are we even doing what we're doing.
The cutscenes last a few minutes. If you're THAT anxious to get into the game, you really, really should just chill a bit. The game isn't going anywhere and an extra two minutes doesn't matter one bit.
I could understand this "problem" if the story would be forced down your throat and the gameplay would be interrupted at every turn, like in modern assassins creeds, but it's not even close to that.
Frankly, it's just stupid to even have this conversation, when the devs themselves have said that no, not gonna let you skip them.
Either enjoy them and chill or quit the game. I assure you, no-one is going to miss anyone who quits a game over a few minutes of unskippable cutscenes.
now if the game was say, 40% cutscene, where everytime you got a monster to a certain state a new cutscene would happen. and then it starts limping off, nother cutscene, approching it while its sleeping nother cutscene, then yeah i'd whole heartedly agree its too much.
in old MH games, there were so little cutscenes, it was also a problem of not many people knew wtf the story was or the reason behind their actions. Tri was one of the first to have some cutscenes and they looked glorious on the wii bt ultimately the hunter was detatched from em. enter MH 4, monster introductions and other cutscenes involved the WHOLE group on the mission in the scene. players liked that everyone could get involved.
then we come to world, has the best story telling by far out of any MH (which i know, isnt saying much for its story telling) and people cant enjoy the fact these scenes took time to put together and animate, even lip syncing them to their fake language rather than japanese or english.
but no, a couple mins is too long a wait for you i guess, you have more important things to do than enjoy what you bought. kindly leave here then because:
1. those of us here, cannot change anything
2. dont care for this change you want
3. pretty much believe you to just be trolling at this point knowing these facts
What do they teach in schools now?
"Put your heads down, and never try to change anything. Just give up, you belong to businesses, just accept your lot in life."?!
What, is being forced to watch (by yourself) a cheaply-made, uncanny-valley-ridden, garbage CGI anime (despite paying $60 for a blasted interactive multiplayer VIDEO GAME!!) somehow the very pinnacle of modern art and culture?!
------
Here, here's what the story in Monster Hunter World is. First the cast:
And now, for the actual story:
Go off into the woods and slay a few minor monsters, so we can find a volcanic freak of nature that's literally the size of a small island. He's very elusive, so we'll need to collect mushrooms and kill a bunch of wildlife to find him."
Yep...real quality cutscenes there, Capcom.
Super important that no one misses even a second of it. Especially if they've seen it a million times before.
<sarcasm> Hey I know, why not also rig it so the cutscene pauses if the player mutes their speakers/headphones.
Oh, and disable Alt+F4, to keep those impatient brats from not seeing your "magnificant vision of art". </sarcasm>
Now what in the hell makes you think that? Because it sure isn't proof or evidence.
You kidding me with your second sentence, Seamus?
It's just weird that a game franchise that isn't exactly well-known for its story literally forces us to watch cutscenes. And like I said before, this sort of practice is (I would say with confidence) considered archaic by most gamers.
Great artists don't force you to watch their art. There's a certain degree of modesty (and choice) involved there. See DMC5 as an example.
It's Monster Hunter. We relax by killing the ♥♥♥♥ out of monsters. Not by watching cutscenes with characters we don't care about, or hate (for the latter, see the countless "I hate the Handler" posts on this forum as good examples).
No no no no no no no it's not. And I don't know how you came to that conclusion.
EDIT: The main problem here is that it would have been nice to at least have the OPTION to skip cutscenes (you know, like 99% of other games and developers give us).
Look, I get it: Capcom actually took the time to make a story for us, characters that they want us to love. And they want us to know that. But it's just weird because they REALLY want us to know that.
Do you know what happens when you force someone to try to care for something? Yup, they end up not caring for it at all.
On the off-chance you're being serious, then the thing you want to be doing is playing investigations, or one of the other kinds of quests. NOT playing story missions. Those story missions are where the big scary cutscenes happen.
The single player and multiplayer portions of the game feel significantly different, and I like how the story missions make sure that I get some of that single player gameplay. Otherwise, I'd fall into a rut just answering SOS calls all the time.
Meh. Expected better from you, Xilo. This is IMO a legit complaint (for gaming in general) and should not be attributed to trolling whatsoever.
Seriously, people need to learn to relax. With the exception of the credits, which I fully agree should be skippable, none of the cutscenes are remotely long.
Oh god, I forgot about the ending credits. Those ending credits.
I think both sides can agree on one thing: having the option of skipping cutscenes would have been noice. I would even say that it was expected, which is why many people are voicing their complaints here.
You also have to consider the people who have complained about having to watch cutscenes before their friends could join their games. Skipping cutscenes would have (IMO) partially alleviated these complaints.
