Lunastra - Unblockable Fire Damage
I've got to the 'Pandora's Arena' quest to fight Lunastra in 15 minutes. Turns out she doesn't need nearly that long to kill me. She's got two attacks I need help with:

1) Most of her attacks put down some fire that goes right through Fireproof Mantle.

I've read that you need Cool Drinks, but even with both the fire still does damage if it's unignited.

I've found that there's two types of fire; one without flames (magma?) that does damage, and the blue flames which don't. But she leaves magma with all attacks; it's only when she breathes on it to ignite it that it becomes safe to stand on.

Do I need to use a different weapon? It's hard to get out of the lava patches with lance guard advance and forward hops.

2) Her ultimate nova is unblockable even with Guard Up. I'm not on fire, not near any of the random fire patches that spawn and holding guard (but no block sound), but over the whole duration of the attack I've taken nearly a full 150 damage. This is purely an aura.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1759197504 - All that red bar is from that attack.

How the hell do you counter something like that? I've also had no difference at -6 fire resist or +44.

Lunastra in the arena was quite problematic for me too. You don't need to do that much to it but still, the small size of the map and the huge aoe was a pain. I've tried some weapons against lunastra and the lance was, in my opinion, the worst against it, because of that unblockable fire thing. You just wanna be somewhere else when it happens (which admittingly is difficult in the arena anyway) but something as slow as lance is tough for that. Something like dual swords or insect glaive is easier.

Get something with ice on it, and try hitting it behind it's legs. Preferably the hind legs

And you can also send out and SOS I think in hopes of someone joining in

1. Cool drinks are key. Fire Mantle really helps to mitigate the fire damage. Stay out of the pools of blue flames, Lunastra is weak against Ice element.
2. Ultimate Nova must be superman dived. You can use Temporal mantle but more than likely it will reach its limit after 1 Nova. Learn the timing and superman dive.

kill her before she breath flame
Cool Drink + Heat Guard nullifies her Supernova Heatwave.

The initial explosion can be blocked but the heat is considered Environmental Damage.

Heat guard already has cool drink effect.

so with a bit of fire resistance and a health booster, you cant negate the super nova from her in this fight

Look at my second screenshot. I've got Cool Drink active and Supernova's passive heatwave did all that damage.

So I eventually did it, and with scouring the internet for more advice. Basically amounted to spamming an inventory of potions each cart, rushing her hind leg and finishing with the dragonator. Ended up using SnS after trying LBG and LS; mobility and items won out overall.

Not looking forward to the next mission. I know there's a bond mechanic that auto-novas.

You need both active

you know you can force the nova with flashbug right ? if you feel insecure just do that and problem solved.

You've got a lot more room to get away from her attacks in that mission, and you can separate her from Teo. If they're not together in the same room they won't bond, and if you quickly dispose of the Teo you can basically bypass the whole thing.

There's one trick I've discovered while hunting AT Luna to help deal with her Supernova; if you know you can't avoid it, get hit intentionally.

Run into a blue patch when she starts going supernova. The patch will explode and knock you down. Once you're down, stay down as long as you can. You are immune from all damage, including her aura, as long as you're down. A full duration knockdown should last almost the entirety of her supernova, and you can Shield or Superman Dive the last explosion.

Its even better if you have the Temporal Mantle on, cuz you can run into a blue patch to keep proccing the dodge while she's going supernova. You are also totally immune to damage while you're in the Temporal Mantle's dodge animation.
