Personally, I don’t play hammer for optimal dps. I do it cuz it’s got some of the more interesting weapon designs. If you want a cool looking hammer, run Pandemonium’s Root or Binder Mace.
Diablos one with handicraft is better by a decent amount of dmg but passive crit u can get is 80% which makes useless master touch. if it decreases to blue sharp still better than taroth sleep n buffs are more effective for diablos cos meme base raw
taroth sleep reaches 100% ++ crit + MT
white last forever so...
diablos better for speedruns
While that is all true, Diablos in blue is worse than Sleep in white, that's why the consistency on Sleep can outdamage Blos Hammer on monsters with hard to hit weakspots.
diablos shatterer 2 with white sharpness is the current big ♥♥♥♥ meta.
taroth sleep is next
barroth, deviljho, and other hammers that are in that raw damage range can be used, but more considered as sidegrades.
it's kind of nice because you only need one hammer, but kind of bad because the kjarr hammers are beautiful looking.
anyway, if you're picking up hammer, the best thing to note is that it has the second highest raw per weapon compared to greatsword, so build it very similar to greatsword. you want to reach for things like masters touch, affinity augs and generally high affinity, elementless jewels, WEX, maximum might, etc.
hammers positively suck at applying status and element and this is painfully, painfully evident, just play bow or a kjarr para switchaxe for five minutes and realize the difference. it doesn't mean you can't make meme builds, but just understand you're really hamstringing your dps.
hammer comes with built in stun and part-stagger ability, and can stunlock a monster if played properly, cycle combos across different monster parts to begin a planned cascade of 'monster lies there twitching while hammer user activates bigbang.exe'. Hammer rarely bounces, it only smashes.
hammer good. teach stupid monster how to make dead. *grunts in hammer*
This. Very much this.
