Any reason to keep grinding HR?

You get a special "No Life" achievement if you get to HR 999 before Iceborne

hr 100 unlocks the last optional sidequest. but thats about it. past 100 like others said purely a number without effect. hr200 might become useful to unlock a bit of stuff in iceborne MAYBE but i doubt anything above 200 will ever see a use.

Beating Xtremoth and Ancient Leshen thus obtaining Warrior of Light and the "Wild Hunt" titles that's for bragging rights ;) the HR are indeed pointless after 100 but it's not about the level anyway at this point. More about farming/ playing with friends and helping new players to be valuable assets to the hunting community.

As someone with HR 999 I can confirm that it is indeed pointless except to show off, which is nice I guess.

People cheat their hr for a reason.

However you'll want a HR of at least 100 so people don't auto kick you from tough hunts.

my curiousity is this though, in past MH games when you went from high rank only version of a game to the G rank version via save transfer, it'd reset your HR temporarily for the new story. when iceborne drops, is everyone gonna be HR 16 again, then 17-20 or something like that till they beat the new story content?

and if so, will the old HR be retained?

its not super important but it might matter to someone so these are questions worth asking and mentioning.

they wont just reset your HR. would kinda defeat the point of it unlocking a quest at 100 for high rank then.

so its unlikely theyll limit you back on it. that might work if its a full new game but this is an xpac more than a full new game. so they wont remove your HR from you. atleast not permanently. that would be really silly i have to say if that happens.

At 250, you'll get more guild card title.. as well as 500 and 999

yeah its possible, and no i didnt mean permanently, i was HR 80 something on MHG, when i went to MHGU it was dialed back temporarily for progression reasons. once i beat the end game story mob once, my old HR came back. so i doubt they'd perma poof your HR and make you grind it again that would indeed be silly, but since there will be more story and a new rank, if they stick to the old ways my guess is HR will go back down to 16 or 17 and progress up as you do the new story. or tack on a whole new rank system along side HR specifically for master rank.
