Can't find Hornature Carapaces?

Hey guys, been farming for these and can't for the life of me get one to drop. Trying to make HR Odogaron armour and these are the last ingredients I need, driving me crazy.

Been carving the corpses of the Hornatures but still no luck. Tried multiple investigations but they all come up dry with the same old bonus rewards as usual.

Any tips?

Have you gotten any investigations for them? After killing so many you might have a few, which are the best option for getting those if you're having no luck carving them.

Thanks guys. Yes I've been doing investigations and the only available rank investigations for the Hornatures I have available are 4 star. Should those be dropping the items? Or is it because those are still low rank so the drop rate is terrible?

I think that was the issue. Thanks man. New to the game here so lots of gotchas that keep tripping me up lol.

Haha yeah its a huge game, so much to take in and learn to be even remotely competent. Loving every second of it though, can't believe I've never played the series until now. Been missing out on a lot :)

Just as a tip if you didn’t know: killing the hornetaurs with poison bombs or pods will usually preserve the corpses. This’ll save you time on carves instead of smashing em to smithereens.

There is should be a quest in high rank where you are tasked to kill 10 hornetaurs in the rotten area.
This is a pretty good grinding quest since the game will give you 10 poison bombs everytime you start the quest.
