What are the 3 fastest weapons?

I know dual blades are the fastest, but comes next? see i prefer speed over power, and am using dual blades, but was thinking to change up a little soon, maybe the giant katana or long sword are fast?

Dual Blades, Sword and Shield, Insect Glaive are very fluid melee weapons, although there are times when other melee weapons can be very fast and fluid too, such as the Charge Blade and its dancing dodges while guarding, etc.

Bow is also really fast, and to a lesser extent the Light Bowgun is too, but it's a bit more rigid than your typical speedy weapon, but your range of movement is quite good with it. Heavy Bowgun, not so much.

I really like the idea of the Long sword, is there a way of getting that faster with buffs or what ever? im a noob, only 17 hours in, at the part I have to hunt the diablos, but i feel my dual blades arent doing enough damage :/

Bow
Dual blades
SnS
IG
LBG

Bow is the top tier weapon of all these weapons.

The problem with dual blades is while they hit fast, until you get the basics of how monsters move, your gonna find youself having to break off and reposition alot, especially on a Diablos. they love to charge around and tunnel. Sometimes fights just dont boil down to the weapon alone. I switched from dual blades to Greatsword and my mission times went from 15-20 minutes down to 5-10. Sometimes its better to land one hard hit for 100ish damage than it is to land 5 for 20ish. play around with some of the other simple weapons like Sword and shield, hammer, greatsword, or bow. This way you are learning the monsters without getting bogged down the all the technicalities of the weapons at the same time. a bow may not look cool and flashy but you can always learn those weapons when you have a good feel for each of the monsters.

The attack speed of each weapon will stay the same, no matter what buffs you have.

With fast weapons, you really want to exploit the elemental weakness of the monster you are fighting.
Because of how elemental damage works, it is very effective on fast hitting weapons.
The raw damage you do depends on how fast the move is that you do, so a fast hit will do less damage than a big slow hit. This means on agerage a lot of fast hits will do about the same amount of raw damage as just a few slow hits, given the same amount of time to deal the damage.
However, for elemental damage, it is a flat amount of damage that is added to every hit.
So a slow attack will do alot of raw damage and a flat amount of elemental damage.
A fast attack will do a little raw damage but the same flat amount elemental damage.
Because you can do more fast hits in the same amount of time, you will deal much more elemental damage with a fast hitting weapon.

So to apply this to your fight with Diablos:
Diablos is weak against ice damage.
Pick Dual Blades with the most ice damage you have.
You will deal a lot of damage to Diablos.

Ofcourse if the problem is actually getting to attack Diablos in the first place, maybe trying a different type of weapon can help.

No weapon is going to feel like its doing enough damage early on. I avoided most weapons and stuck with the hammer and bow until I was able to make builds for every weapon in the game where I could see their full potential. If you want fast and high damage, the bow is what you want, it is the one of the most powerful weapons in the game when used correctly. Another weapon which is fast is the sns, that does not do nearly as much damage as the bow but it is a fun weapon, especially in multiplayer.

Speed over Power is nice however utility is what you truly want. Everyone says there's no weapon tier list but that's pure BS. Anyone with over 400 Hours should agree with the list I show below. The only thing up for debate is C tier and below. So assuming you want a Speed Weapon, I would go LS as a Main and then Transition to Bow or HBG as a secondary. You can pick up GS as a 3rd.

If you want to play Multi then I suggest going Bow. No one in multi likes LS users or Duals since most of the time they flinch the team.

If you want to scrap your Speed over Power, learn the GS because GS is what the Big BoyZ use.

Umm, a MG HBG will destroy any weapon for CC. You get Sleep 2, Para 2, Sticky 3, and can Cluster. Also, MG will para a monster faster than Swag Para which is rarely used anyways.

No, there are no buffs to increase attack speed. You either deal with its 'slowness' or you find something faster. Instead of making other weps faster, why not make your DB stronger?? Have you upgraded it to the highest you can get?? Or maybe google what element diablos is weak too and make a DB with that element. You should also be making deamon drugs and buy the might charm from the trader.
