How is Zorah Magdaros?
I beat That Damn Dinosaur™ and now I have to fight the main antagonist. How hard is it? Are certain things recommended for the fight? Or will this game give me a break after the previous monstrosity?

Make yourself some coffee and prepare for boredom. Also ZM is not the final boss of the campaign.

I guess if you want a more comprehensive breakdown spoilers ahead

The first stage of the fight consists of fighting 3 stationary objects and dropping big stalactites which is about as engaging as you think.

Then Nergigante shows up. Ignore him completely, no really just don't bother. You will need to fight him come ATZM but not regular.

Final stage is loading cannons repeatedly. Use the Dragonator when it becomes available. There are tethers that can stop ZM from using his breath attack but they aren't really necessary until AT.

Edit: If you are doing the "One for the History Books" assignment then forget the parts about stalactites and the Dragonator. The mission is essentially just a tutorial for the siege mechanics.

This.
To further make the AT version of Zorah Magdaros easier, I have to chip its hp during the zorah moving phase. Its important to disable the heart core during this phase. It will carry over to the barrier defense phase.
During the barrier defense phase, many have discovered to climb onto Zorah Magdaros when it slam its hand or head toward barrier. The only reason to climb Zorah Magdaros is to disable heart core and head core. If you disabled heart core during previous phase, you will only need to deal with head core. Head core can be damaged using ballista, if you are precise enough to hit it. Once both head core and heart core were disabled, Zorah Magdaros will enter weaken state and cannot use the powerful fire breath blast. However, this last only a short while until the head core and heart core regenerate. If both core are active, its better to ignore them. Disabling both core take lots of effort.

Prepare earplugs because the commander will constantly shout at you.
