Is the switch axe a good weapon? Or does it suck compared to other weapons?
I know that you can beat everything with any weapon but i want to know if this weapon is good or not.

>Slow Movement
I see you dont know about Axe Form
>Mediocre DPS
I see youve never entered Amped State
>No defense options
Imagine needing a shield
Maybe try out other weapons and get some perspective.
Maybe play Switch Axe for more than 3 low rank quests and see how SA works, my dude

Any weapon in the right hands is good. Anyone who thinks a particular weapon is "bad" is essentially saying they suck with that weapon.

So tired of kids blaming gear instead of taking personal responsibility for how they play. The weapon doesn't move itself, it's up to the player to unlock its potential.

There isn't much to understand and that it has issues isn't an unpopular opinion either.

yeah, like we dont know elemental CB in savage axe either, but based on current numbers and the fact element isnt capped as far as we know... i think both will be excellent candidates for elemental weapons.
Element IS capped, however, the changes theyve done to element skills could still give Savage Axe a chance with Elemental; Just with how Savage works, the Repeat Offender effect from lvl 6 element could get you an instant 30% affinity boost with one swing
huh, it didnt seem like there was a cap based on early math, just soft caps at various levels depending on the base value of the weapons element.

either way, the cap if it exists is at minimum double base element from preliminary information they put out. so we'll be able to do some pretty crazy things with element weapons.

I feel something like Kjarr Strongarm Ice (or whatev its called) with lvl 6 Ice Element would be insane

This is a pointless question unless you want to speedrun the game. Just because the weapon kills the monster slightly slower doesn't make it bad. You should always play what you like the most.

For speedruns, Switch Axe is pretty low tier. it does decent damage, however it has way too long animations, meaning that you can rarely comit to your most powerful attacks and combos, which require you to get locked into lengthy animations. And that's why against a majority of monsters it is a pretty low tier pick when kill times are concerned. By speedrunners standards.

Actually, SA is always "middle place" when it comes to speed runs, strangely enough; I see folks say its always low tier, but usually its "middle tier" where "it's not the best, but it's not the worst"

You're actually not correct. Compare speedrun times. Switch axe is in the bottom 5 for almost all the end game elder dragon fights. Pulls ahead in Nergigante and Vaal. It's a middle of the pack against Xeno and maybe Teo, the rest it's almost at the bottom. Thankfully it's never as bad as HH lol, seriously Capcom please make that weapon relevant in solo play.

but yeah, the thing to think though is THAT is still end tier high rank, kinda like the taroth thunder lance with 600 locked thunder element. i did the math and fully uncapped and not factoring in sharpness you effectively could reach 1150 raw element which if i remember right translates to 115 damage before hit zones, just for the elemental portion of the damage. so on molten kulve it'd be doing half that, thats all buffs including HH buff. just not sharpness because i forgot that was a thing in all my excitement. :P it doesnt change it much but a bit none the less as long as your blue or white.

edit: assuming the hit is a crit. and you have crit element in the build.

No offence, but 3 minutes is not a good time when you compare it to actual speedruns. You're missing the point of the argument.

Switch axe is good for low rank but beyond that the damage is too abysmal and you won't be able to kill monsters quickly enough. I recommend charge blade instead. It's more fun to use and does a ton more damage.

Yeah i switched to charge blade after i realised that the SA is bad. It needs something similar to longswords foresight slash to be good.

SA depend a lot on your ability to switch between form though, a bit hard to gasp it right but once you do it's a solid weapon that dish out constant heavy damage

It does have 2 fade slashes but they suck, only go backwards and the axe mode one is laughably slow.
