Coop-Mode from Beginning?
Hi Guys, i recently bought the game alongside three friends. We want to start together. Can we play the story quests together from the beginning?

Nope, you have to get past few story / tutorial missions, about 2 to 3 missions iirc, starting from the huge mountain monster ramming to your ship > you reach the HQ camp.

But technically yes, you can play coop from after that.

reaching astara for the first time is the tutorial, right? We all played seperatly to astara, where you first chose wappons and then hunt these little monsters. Are we good to go after?

Yall should be in the same session to be most efficient. That way when one starts a quest other will see it listed in "available" section. Just keep in mind that host has to first see through all the initial cutscenes before others are allowed to join.

Important to note:
* People who can join your story mission must have cleared that mission first. Exception on some quests. The reason is because story missions requires certain Hunter Rank to progress.
* I would separate story missions into two types: A which have the prelude mission scene and B which starts right away.

A type story mission requires you to reach up to specific scene before others can join. So you (maybe) not able start these missions right away with others. Others can wait in the same lobby session tho.

B type story missions are those which only have starting scene (for Vets: Like the Kulve taroth) or only ending scene. You can start a party right away and invite everyone after taking the mission from the board/assignment person and before departing.

So if we want to play the story missions together, everyone should play it seperat to the first cutscene, then 3 leave and join the 3th on in his mission? Or have story missions have to be ended before you can join someone else doing it?

All of you only need to watch the cutsence, 1 stay, others leave thier quest and join. Usually it will tell you can fire sos flare, indicate that the quest can be join but you dont have to fire sos when playing in the same session, you only have to do these step with Assignment quest. The whole story mode is the tutorial, real game start after the ending credit

Everyone needs to watch the cutscenes, Then your 2 friends leave(their games while in your Room) after they have seen them (On their own games.) and come join yours, (You guys only have to do this once.)

THIS IS ONLY FOR STORY MISSIONS,The game isn't over when the story is over,It only just begun. And that is the end for this Cutscene BS.

really wish capcom could've come up with a better system for progressing the "story" then forcing you to watch the CS by yourself before others can join the hunt. Would it have been so bad to have 4 hunters walking along together but have only yours show up during the CS?

Luckily there aren't many missions with cutscenes you need to watch. There are some story related stuff there in the middle though that takes some time.
