Health because it allows you to keep up Peak Performance and you'll need to use less often potions.
It's not worth it on range weapons because you won't benefit much, the health you're getting back is peanuts.
Health augments are stronger on heavy hitters and weaker on light or ranged weapons. On a Spread HBG it's totally useless but for a Lance it's a must have as you take small amounts of damage when blocking attacks and you can't heal yourself without sheathing your weapon first. Afaik the Lance is also the only weapon where the additional slot is useful as many Lance builds need extra space for Ironwall decos.
