You're not obliged to accept their card, neither are you obliged to send yours out at every opportunity, even when people send you theirs. You can bet they just finished a hunt / entered a session and then checked everyone and mass sent it. You'll probably never see them again and vice versa anyway.
So don't feel pressured to send yours out. No harm in doing so though, if you can be bothered, it'll probably help someone somewhere.
It's a lot harder now, even though this game is nowhere near dead, the buzz and urgency has dropped off a lot. I'm hoping Iceborne will both reinvigorate Guild Cards and their mechanics, and thus encourage more caring and sharing. I wish squads would come back, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do I miss squads.
You can still find the odd session (or make them yourself) to trade guild cards in, and right now the best option is joining Kulve Taroth sessions and chucking your card to everyone in it - some will send you theirs back, as in accordance with this sort of thing, because they'll likely understand that you need it. Not everyone cares though, but for the most part this community is pretty great.
I don't send my Guild Card out nowhere near as often as I used to - only when people send me theirs first - because I don't want to appear pretentious or make people think I'm flexing on them or something.
I wish Guild Cards were open and free for anyone to look at, just like your Steam profile - and you got an achievement simply by getting like 50 unique views / ratings or something instead, but eh, that's me.
You aren't obliged to do anything with therm.
Once you figure out how it works, you can figure out what you want to use on her. Most people would recommend the Lunastra "Styx" bowgun, which is pretty much the solid meta because of the rapid fire Thunder ammo, but eh...I've seen people dominate her with Dual Blades, lol. You'll find your niche!
The worse thing you can do is watch some guy on Youtube flawlessly take it down and get like 8 platinum rewards every trip with his A-Team. It'll make you think you're not playing it properly. Makes it even more unfun when you see that "Another team broke the horns!" message, anyway.
Oh ok because to add to all of that it's a competition for who will break the horn first ? Oh that sound great....
I totally agree about how unfun it look to be. A side of me want to do it because i want to do everything in the game. But another part of me is like ehhhh. /insert ''You absolutely need heat guard'' quote here. lmao
Hell it make me think about that Leshen i fought in the geralt quest... I don't even want to imagine how the extreme version of it is.
I guess that's end game for ya indeed. I never really had the chance to play earlier entries since im not much of a console gamer. I have mixed feeling about it though.
Each teams ultimate objective is to earn their limit on points and break Kulve Taroths horns to end the siege.
Theoretical: four teams are trying to break her horns, one team breaks them first. This ends the siege and grants them 500 points. Another team breaks the horns and only gains 250 points. The other two teams wipe without breaking the horns, but the siege has ended so they can't make another run to earn those juicy points. They have to start over.
You'll earn weapons and drops anyway just for taking part. It's just kinda lame about the competitive side to it, since it encourages rushing and such. It's a little disheartening, especially on your first few runs, when you're seeing all these "another team completed X objective!" messages popping up, since it definitely gives you a feeling of playing bad or not being fast enough. Sense of urgency or something, I dunno.
But you'll still "win" regardless. That's why I said not to pay too much attention to Youtube guides, since they'll cherry pick epic wins and try to cram so many little rush tier strats into it, making the siege become waaaay more frantic and tryhardy than it needs to be. Chill out! Have fun! Gain nothing but crap drops! It's all part of the authentic experience!
Full disclaimer: I'm a little rusty with Kulve Taroth so some of my information might be wrong, so uh eh. Maybe someone will correct me. If I'm lucky, they'll even be nice about it!
I will never accept a guild card from somebody randomly spamming them all over the place, its just annoying
